Indent was issued as a Freedom cd with the Arista/Freedom cover. Blue-J's was booted on cd. 1000 is probably a good guess for quantities on the original lps.

In this case the copyright date reflects the recording date (Nov 4, 1973) not the issue date. I worked for a chain called Discount Records. At that time we had around 30 stores. They sold out quickly and I was not able to get more copies.

I'm with Mr Thornton on this one. Stollman was a bad businessman, not a bad person.

Since the majority of this material is available, what's to gain with boxes? Want stuff to take to the used store? Want more packages you rarely play? Want something to flog on ebay? I really don't get it.

This week (on vacation) I grilled pork chops, rib eyes, huge chunk of salmon, brats, hot dogs and hamburgers. Now I have to get rid of 6 friggin' pounds. I blame Ann's mother. It was her grill.

Indent and Blue-J's were the only records issued. In spite of the numbers, Indent was recorded and issued first. I think Blue-J's was first offered for sale at a CT event/festival at Columbia in 1974. That's where I got my copy. I later bought around 300 from him for the record store chain I worked for. I know he hoped to issue a Smithsonian performance (same quartet) of a piece called Parade. By '77 this plan (and Unit Core) were history and I was going to issue Parade. As often happens, a "manager" fucked up the deal. A couple of years later Cecil asked what happened to our "deal" and when I explained he said "Always talk to ME". My error. I know a couple of years before Unit Core existed, an ad was run in Coda offering a private issue of a solo performance called Cathedral. My friend Terry Martin sent off a check and no record (or records - it might have been a double) materialized.

OK, here's the deal as I know it. We leave when I send this. We plan on arriving late afternoon - rehearsal dinner early evening - some place called Brio. Then - If we are not "dead" plan on checking out the Blue Room. We will check in with Tom during the day to see if that still flies. A late breakfast/brunch sounds great too - the wedding isn't 'til 6:00 Sat nite so we have some "wiggle room". Hope to see y'all.

I'll be back here later in the day when our schedule is firmer. The only instruction I have from Ann is "We have to do ribs sometime". She's still clinging to memories of Bryant's in the late '70s.

Last I heard, I was leaving this place.

Bass plays 8 notes before the band hits on the cd version - about 3 seconds.

We took our daughter (Carla) to hear the band in Ann Arbor (she's a lurker here now) . She tried to organize her group of friends (about 15) to go to the last Baker's gig but they all wanted to go the the fest downtown. She vows they will be at this gig. I'm sure she will hit you up for a round.

Don't know the origin but the first lp was 2701 and 2728 is where the cd issues began. 2727 is a Claudio Roditi date. I have some vinyl if you want it.
