I'll have to keep an eye out for those.

The Candid is a reissue of an lp I've liked for a long time - the original was on GFM records from Scotland.
Has anyone mentioned (too lazy to backtrack) the recordings under the original discussion include Henry Textier and Daniel Humair? I have loved these recordings since they were originally issued and still like 'em.
For my last posting of pics from the session (I want to extend a ton of thanks to Ann for the shots) I now show the downfall of Lazaro Vega.
He was eliminated in the first round of the shirt contest.
FWIW. while working on the cd reissue of Young at Heart I played a 30 minute first take of the solo piece. Many more references to earlier styles - boogie, stride, etc. Sadly, no room on the cd for it. Maybe in the next format.
This record was issued a few years before Columbia got into rock. The "one shot" was undoubtedly facilitated by the participation of Getz - a very hot commodity at the time. IIRC, Getz filed suit against Columbia for making his name more prominent (by color - orange) than the other players including Brookie.
What happens if you die? What if you get tired of this shit and sell the masters? If you sold them to me and told me you owned the masters and had no obligations on paper.... Nothing on paper?
The artist is the only loser.
Legally the label owns the copyright and in court the artists will lose every time.
All this slippin' and slidin' gives me the heebie jeebies.
For cripes sake, at least give the artists a piece of paper detailing their rights if you dispose of the master rights.
One of the Count Basie volume of the Masters of Jazz series (it should be volume 11) has all four versions of 'Dickie's Dream'. Can't check right now.
The series is unfortunately discontinued by now and that CD might be hard to find!

IIRC there are really only 3 takes - the extra on the Columbia lp duplicated one of the others.
I currently have 3 takes on Classics and Neatwork.
