The Lowe book sounds wonderful - probably 18 readers waiting for a book like this (me included) and the rest go to libraries. I do not mean this as a slam in any way - just a reflection of the times. Damn, I hope it happens. No one has responded to my "lack of interest" in Charles as a player. I stated I had no interest in his playing but thought he was a good organizer. If you can point me to some good/great playing, let me know.
  2. Montana with Jack Walrath, and friends from home. It's on Labor.
  3. Chris, that was YOU I saw in the Village wearing the pendants!
  4. What about Spam with cloves and TaterTots?
  5. Say what?
  6. Bet you can't stop dancin'. I'm very happy for you.
  7. But not all that good. I think Burning Spirits sucks big time.

From what I have seen (or heard) Mister Charles is much brighter than his playing. I mean he never "got to me" as an instrumentalist, but his "projects" do. I did not play for a good reason.
  9. So now we have a David Gates/Joe Henderson thread.
  10. Nat's a very smart guy, decent observer of the scene and a very fine writer. I disagree with him at times but read everything I see.
  11. Here is an opening for me to pimp the Uptown Christmas cd. Tracks by Claudio Roditi/Don Sickler, Frank Wess/Johnny Coles, Kenny Barron, Charlie Rouse, Richard Wyands, Maria Muldaur, Walter Davis Jr, Carl Fontana/Al Cohn, Barry Harris, Jack Sheldon/Barry Harris, Sahib Shihab and Tommy Flanagan. Contact me if you are interested. B-)
  12. OUTSTANDING!!!
  13. Rachel, Patricia, Maren, etc are not in your species. Look elsewhere.
  14. So the shipment from Columbia got thru customs without any problems! B-)
  15. I've spent the last few hours entering my (Prestige/Fantasy/Riverside/etc) lps into my cd database so I can make something that looks like an intelligent purchase (or 4).
  16. I think he was speaking "Canadian". That's what they talk like in Canadia.
  17. Same here! All the best to you.
  18. My post was meant to be constructive, not a flame.
  19. PLEASE - I don't want to sound harsh but these polls started by a youngster without a ton of experience involve some of us and insult some of us. I think all should think a long time before starting a thread of this type. Personally I was bummed George wasn't on the list and where is Gunter Christmann? Mister Addict has his heart in the right place, just not enough listening. soft hearted chuck
  20. Nuttin' to say 'cept good to see ya postin' again. Is your cd still available? I mentioned it in another thread and had some interest.

  22. Well, I have learned to ignore threads started by mr. hardbop. He did buy a couple of Von Freeman cds from me but I'm not sure he's happy about his purchase. I'm glad he has a good time in clubs but it has nothing to do with the world I live in. I am delighted he does not post here.
  23. DO NOT DO IT. I have had all the lps and really love some of it but that is way too much money. You wanna throw the stuff away send cash to me and Jim A.
