I don't think so. A couple of years back Harvey Pekar called to ask if it was ok to pass my number on to Leon. He was in the process of replacing his lps with cds and wanted to buy direct from me. IIRC, Harvey told me to make sure I got "full price" since Leavitt could afford it. He bought one of each title.

If these are "originals" from the '50s and '60s, any wear you give them in the next 30 years will be less than they got in the first year.

Late in his career I tried to do a couple of Carisi projects but they came to naught. Not his fault, just the idiots I was working with. Carisi didn't know about my attempts.

Considering the players involved, I have been "bummed" by Handyland for about 40 years. Nothing wrong, but nothing great.

As a Green fan, I bought the lp when issued. Played it once, was bummed and shelved it. When the cd was issued and I had the same reaction.

Something like that. I had made a very specific deal with Ira to make a very specific type of recording. In the studio Ira opened up a briefcase, dug out some music and said "I know what Chuck expects, but have some stuff in here that's almost like art". My response was something like "what do you think jazz is?". After messing around with endless "rehearsals" of Ira's "almost like art", Don DeMichael (a guest in the studio) said "Play bebop". Ira said "the style or the tune?" with contempt. I said "Your choice". They wound up playing "That's Earl Brother". A fine performance, indeed. This recording was a wonderful and very trying experience. I think I won the fight since Ira has repeatedly told me this is his best record.
