  1. Chess recorded Jamal at the Pershing on January 16-17, 1958 and both records were culled from these 2 nights. Most of the 2nd record from the 17th.

  5. Correct. Noah Howard released his concert and Power Trio with Mwata Bowden had a cd.
  6. Scott Black (an old friend who used to post here as "freejazz") presented a series of concerts at Unity Temple in Oak Park, IL. A number of them were professionally recorded. This is one of them - I also have a Sam Rivers Trio and a Fred Van Hove solo set.

  9. Sorry to hear this. We met decades ago in Chicago. I took him to dinner in a local Mexican restaurant. Later I assisted him getting a distribution/marketing deal for the label. He wrote to tell me he owed me "more than all the margaritas I could drink".
