  1. This reminded me of one I recorded with Roscoe, Wadada and George Lewis (trio for woodwinds, high brass and low brass).
  2. Discs 3 & 4 - 1929-1930.
  3. Bobby Bradford (cornet), Francis Wong (saxophones) & William Roper (tuba) have a couple interesting recordings
  4. For example, one night in a bar I mentioned I gave a bonus to the group AIR for coming in under the studio budget I had estimated for the date. He said "Don't ever do that again, musicians will fuck you at every turn". Most of the IAI records have short playing times.
  5. I knew Paul a bit - he was a fascinating animal. Hope I didn't say this earlier.
  6. As someone using Media Mail for 50+ years, thia is bullshit.
  7. I contributed some editing help to make this date issue-able. Wonderful session. I miss my old friend. Bud was special.
  8. Interesting. I have this lp, without the price sticker. The above post caused me to play
  9. When I recorded at the 30th Street studio in the '70s union rules dictated 2 engineers and 2 assistants for set ups. Robert (Bob) Waller was the "tape operator" aka 2nd engineer.
  10. Seems to be a piano day for me.
  11. Probably haven't listened to this in 30+ years.
  12. I placed an order when it was announced. Mid July I contacted Michael to see if they could delay shipment 'til after August 11; we were leaving on a 3 week + vacation to Northern Europe. Back now and received an email confirming shipping label created.
  13. Ida Red - watched it flying from Stockholm to JFK.
  14. That looks like a Verve cover to me.
  15. Von was in a couple of early Ra bands in Chicago. There are also 2 trio tracks from that session.
