  1. On my first listen. Holy moly.
  2. This has to have some of my favorite Teagarden. The big surprise on this set was Billy Butterfield, who plays some hot trumpet on the sessions with Teagarden. My toddler goes nuts dancing whenever I play it for her.
  3. I found a signed copy of this recently.
  4. It has to be. Black is his signature look. Maybe Randy Brecker in the first one?
  5. I'm going to say Percy Heath, Charles McPherson with Johnathan Blake behind him and Joanne Brackeen.
  6. Speaking of Galeta and McLean, I caught Steve Davis (super nice guy!) in town and chatted with him. I mentioned Galeta and he hopped behind the piano and played some of Galeta's music.
  7. I also forgot about Ambrose Akinmusire. I don't believe I've heard Immanuel Wilkins. When I saw Joel Ross with Marquis Hill, he split time between vibes and piano.
  8. It's interesting how Blue Note is doing things. It's like they throw a bone to fans of vintage Blue Note by signing Wayne Shorter, Joe Chambers and Dr. Lonnie Smith, while pursuing neo-soul/jazz fusion with their younger artists. I guess that's about the best we can expect.
  9. More of the birthday Benny, with a crack band of Dr. Eddie Henderson, Steve Davis, Mike LeDonne, Buster Williams, Carl Allen and a guest spot from Al Jarreau.
  10. Some more Benny Golson, via his arrangements on Brass Shout. The reissue pairing it with The Aztec Suite is essential Art Farmer, IMO.
  11. Thinking about Benny Golson on his 92nd birthday. I only have one other Winchester album, With Feeling, which has another living legend, the mighty Roy Haynes.
  12. Mr. Golson is 92 today. Happy Birthday!
  13. It's also unclear how long immunity would last with only 1 shot (or with two, for that matter).
  14. As a healthcare worker, my wife was able to be vaccinated two weeks ago before they moved on to another group. I am signed up to be notified when I am eligible. I turn 40 at the end of the year and have no health issues, so I have a long wait ahead of me. Then there is my little munchkin, who turns 3 in 2 weeks. I know that serious pediatric cases are rare, but I'll feel much better when she has been vaccinated.
  15. I have a cousin on the way who will be named Miles.
  16. If I had had a boy instead of a girl, he would have been named Carter after Ron Carter. Instead, I had nothing to do with naming my daughter. My wife came up with a name that instantly stuck.
  17. I woke up exhausted with a headache. The day is looking up now.
  18. That's a great one. I bought a copy at Princeton Record Exchange for maybe 2 bucks a few years ago and later discovered that he had signed the booklet. He plays beautifully on it and his tone is wonderful.
  19. Night Flight has Nestico with the Boss Brass minus Rob McConnell. The bonus tracks are from Nestico's earlier album, Dark Orchid. Unfortunately, Sea Breeze is defunct, so a reissue taking advantage of the full 80 minutes of a CD to include the full Dark Orchid is unlikely. Top-shelf Nestico here.
  20. I found a signed copy of this on eBay last year while I was checking out more Nestico.
