  1. you sure you don't mean Harold Danko? (just a joke - when Danko was my neighbor in New Haven we met and he said "I'm not Hal Galper" because apparently a lot of people confused the two - and he was right as, prior to that meeting, I wasn't sure which was which) -
  2. 1) I love Earle Spencer's band; found an lp of it last year at Stereo Jacks! 2) also like Raeburn - good George Handy arrangements, nice Ginny Powell vocals
  3. she just happens to be my favorite singer - check out the late '40s Columbias; as a matter of fact, I'm just about to record my new hit, "The Last Embrace: Ode to Doris Day"
  4. all these advanced features....I'm still trying to figure out how to make a post without having Hans delete it.
  5. just re-above - my newest project will be 3 CDs of personal blues interpretations - Mike, not sure I have your email now, but will try to send it to you - Mark, can send you as well (it also inlcudes one blues piece in reference to the "model" concentration camp set up by the Nazi's and which housed it's own little Jewish orchestra).
  6. can you guys actually stand that whiney voice of Morrisey's? It makes me want to run from the room and drown a puppy.
  7. historical note: Sammy Spear lived in the same apartment building as my parents in the 1950s (maybe in Queens; not sure). on the day I was born my mother, in labor, was wheeled through the lobby. Sammy looked on and said: "Away she goes." the rest is history.***** *****some of the above is true, but most is complete fiction, though it is all possible
  8. I thought it went: "da da dada dada da, da da dada dodo doedayday" -
  9. the organizers of the festival have asked me to design a logo:
  10. sorry - I do, however, have an alto I'm selling.
  11. actually, in the form of a giant phallus.
  12. is it Hans?
  13. next volume: Art for Art's Sake. then: State of the Art then: Art's Craft then: Horn and Hard Art
  14. hmmmm.... Charlie was a smart guy. But I always thought of it as like being a little but pregnant... I remember Bob Mover being able to name the pitch a lot of the time but not always, so maybe it is a similar thing.
  15. Sonny Tufts?
  16. actually, I don't think you can have near-perfect pitch. Either you do or not. You may, however, have good ears.
  17. I think it's five minutes. I think it's five minutes. I think it's five minutes. I think it's five minutes.
  18. actually, this whole site is NOT here and does not really exist. We're all just part of Chuck Nessa's recurring nightmares. And every time he eats something spicy before going to bed, we get Chewy back.
  19. oooh- I like this. Kinda like not using the raincoat.
  20. question du jour - just found out that I cannot download my free version of CA anti-virus on my Mac - any suggestions for a good program?
  21. "I find myself asking why the "dumb people" should have all the fun" I'd like to try to answer this but I'm having too much damn fun to even think about it.
  22. Great stuff. Sounds like a Van Gelder. Peter Ind. I never always liked the way he mic'd the piano - kinda kills makes the dynamics of the pianist SING, gives the instrument a flat fat sound, without a certain sparkle.
  23. don't think so - just part of her game.
