  2. I walways thought that Benny Green was the WORST jazz writer ever and unreadable; funny, however, that I never noticed any sound issues- however, Granz did issue what is, to me, one of the most important recordings of that era - Mary Lou Williams at Montreaux - the one document she left from that time that was not a boorish "I am the blues and I'll show you" kinda thing -
  3. or go to the local papers and point out the poor treatment of local musicians - would make a NICE and embarassing story -
  4. that guy is bumping you guys? give me a break - question - did you have an oral agreement to appear? Did you already set aside the date? I would go tp the fest and say, hey, arse-faces, we turned down ____ gigs in order to take this - you cancel, you pay -
  5. it's Bullmoose I'll be going to - can't remember what they charge, but I have a few fairly valuable CDs that play fine but look messy -

  8. thanks, guys, sounds like a good idea - I wonder if, in the process, they can remove a cut - was hoping to eliminate Hot Dog from my "Best of Lou Donaldson" compilation -
  9. I have 4 or 5 cds, possibly valuable, with messy surfaces - the local CD chain does re-surfacing cheap - anyone ever done this? Does it work out ok, and does the CD look ok? any potential problems?
  10. Oliver Nelson wrote the arrangements for Rollins on the album Alfie; also there's an old Prestige LP with an African theme, as I recall - he was a fine arranger, I just always thought his stuff lacked an edge -
