  1. I'll be there with Joe in January. Looking forward to hearing and meeting you!
  2. It was the closest photo I could find for what my wife would have waiting for us when we came home late from the gigs in Philly last year. It would be gone in about 30 seconds. Of course, I sorta helped. On second thought, Jim now has the recipe--have him bring YOU a pie.
  3. Mark, just make sure you have a large fruit pie waiting for the boys after the gig: And then, for your own safety, GET THE HELL OUTA THE WAY.
  4. Joe Henderson, "The Milestone Years", discs 5-8
  5. Joe Henderson, "The Milestone Years", discs 1-4
  6. Nice! Mine shipped on 9 October but hasn't arrived yet You sure you didn't order it from Zweitausendeins?
  7. Aggie87 = Cunning Linguist
  8. Stanley Turrentine, discs 3-5 REAL glad I picked up both this and the Parlan during the last sale.
  9. AND, you got to use your numbered Swiss bank account to pay for it.
  10. The US doesn't charge duties on individual orders of compact discs, LPs, etc. imported into the country. I looked it up on the net once and found that they are specifically excluded, but I can't seem to find anything about it on the net right now. Also, unlike Europe, there's no mechanism in the US for inspection of individual orders coming in from abroad, assignment of duties to those orders, and then collection of those duties by the postal service or private package services (e.g., UPS, FedEx).
  11. Big Wheel, are you sure you are correct? It was my understanding that only a couple of albums are included in their entirety, Power to the People being one of them. I don't have it, so I may be wrong. From Scott Yanow's review on the very same AMG site: "This massive eight-CD set contains all of the music from Henderson's dozen Milestone LPs" From the 2004 Fantasy catalog: "His 12 albums during that period . . . have been compiled into this eight-CD, 82-selection box."
  12. The Village Music World listing on Amazon now says that there are 24 in stock, down from 45 a few days ago. I'm sure that the Jurek item is getting more people to buy this--at least one reader comment posted below Jurek's article says that the reader bought it on Amazon Marketplace. These may dry up fairly quickly now.
  13. For comparison (can't seem to find Aric in this one):
  14. Ooops. Found another one:
  15. It's only Sunday, but this is line of the week! 3CDs of Bob Cooper and 3 CDs of Shelly's band recorded at the venue, I think. Aren't there only 2 CDs of Shelly at the Manne Hole? And don't forget to throw in the CD of Bill Evans there.
  16. It's still available through Amazon Marketplace--and just as cheap (including shipping) as Dusty Groove!
  17. Stanley Turrentine, discs 1 and 2
  18. Horace Parlan, discs 3-5 My first time through this set. Outstanding.
  19. Just received my set from village_music_world on Amazon Marketplace. It's brand new and factory sealed, but with a remainder mark through the bar code just like the sets being sold by Dusty Groove. Last time I checked, village_music_world had about 45 of these listed for sale, so they must be coming from Concord or some major distributor. Incidentally, village_music_world did a nice job (packed well, shipped on time, and provided real-time on-line tracking of shipment progress via the postal service, which is unusual for an Amazon Marketplace merchant), and has now lowered its price to about $31. With shipping, it works out to be about the same price as Dusty Groove shipped. EDIT: Here's a link for the village_music_world listing.
  20. Horace Parlan, discs 1 and 2
  21. . . . not to mention the bubbles.
  22. You can't--it's impossible. You need to send me 1 or 2 of those boxes so I can help out with the listening.
  23. Now Woody's band had many flirtations w/pop tunes, some successful and some...well, NOT so successful. This could be a whole thread on its own..... What do you know about Woody's band?
