It takes a while, and you may have to send them a reminder email or two in order to get it.

for those who missed out the cheap Universal Mosaics
Ron S replied to tjobbe's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
My first order from them (also including the Dexter Gordon Prestige box) was shipped on Wednesday, January 25th. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get here. -
Looks like this controversy has a just resolution.

Remind us again in May.

Like Byrd/Adams just a few months ago, and then it was gone in a flash. -

The Jazztet is a great set. You might also consider the Mobley set (which is an older one and likely to go OOP before the Jazztet set), or even better yet the J.J. Johnson set, which has been in the "Running Low" category for about 6 months now and will probably be the next set to go OOP. If you're planning to get more sets in the future (and who isn't?), the Johnson set is probably the best one to get right now. -
You mean besides "Ricki Don't Lose That Number"?

The Ellis and Raney are on their way to me from CD Universe (preordered in December), and I just added the Roberts to another CD Universe order. The samples of all 3 of these on the CD Universe site sound great, and they're currently priced at just under $8.40 each (not sure how long that price will last).

And has been for half a year now. It's incredible that it hasn't already sold out, let alone moved into the "Last Chance" category.

Methinks Mr. Weizen got distracted by the cover.

True. Unlike a retailer, they should be able to do that (like Mosaic does). When I bought the Charlie Christian box set and it arrived with foam rubber residue all over the CDs (I still find it hard to believe that such a ridiculous packaging design made it into production), I called the Sony number, and they replaced just the actual discs with brand-new ones (they shipped them in jewel cases) without making me send back the entire box.

Lon (and Chuck), I played mine from yourmusic.com again, and again no problems. BTW, I think I've mentioned this before, but if you're concerned that yourmusic may have gotten a bad batch of these, you can also return the defective CD directly to Sony at their expense, and they'll replace it with one without the BMG Direct labeling (they don't care where the CD was purchased). Call their Quality Management Department at 1-800-255-7514 (this number is printed in the insert of every Sony CD) and be prepared to tell them the specifics of the problem (including track number and time, if possible), and they'll send you a prepaid return label. It generally takes a couple of weeks from the time you return the CD, but you will receive a brand-new CD.

I'm gonna play mine again right now just to make sure that my brain wasn't randomly skipping the first time I played it.

thanks- i'll remove it from my queue! FWIW, my copy of the Shaw disc from yourmusic.com doesn't have those problems.

You know, Erik, in about a month we can start watching out for the Cellar Door box.
-
Actually, I've been listening to it for 2 weeks, but now I can acknowledge the reality of that and not just assume it's all in my imagination. [Just kidding. Or am I??? ]

Just got notice that my backordered "One Down, One Up" shipped yesterday.

for those who missed out the cheap Universal Mosaics

For those who don't read German, as I mentioned above, I used this page to get through the ordering process and to understand the confirmation email. I also tried the translation function through the Google toolbar (right-click on relevant web page and left-click on "Translate Page into English"), but the AltaVista Babel Fish Translation page seemed to be more reliable (I just copy/pasted blocks of text into the translater) and also can be used for emails. I guess I'll find out how reliable it really is when--and if--I get my order and see what's inside the box! I would not recommend using the AltaVista site to translate from English into German to compose emails to Zweitausendeins because, as I also mentioned above, the resulting syntax and word choices could be a bit comical. Apparently, there is sufficient facility with English in the customer service department (a couple of people have mentioned a helpful fellow named Stephan who responds in English) so that English emails should get you whatever information you need. -
No it didn't--it's backordered. Does that mean my backordered "One Up, One Down" will arrive tomorrow?

Well, I just placed an order--those box set prices were just too hard to resist. Believe it or not, I muddled my way through the web site order process by translating things with the AltaVista Babel Fish Translation page. That led to some amusing English syntax, but it seems to have worked! Welcome to the 21st century. Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on Zweitausendeins, and especially to Tjobbe for spreading the word! -
I don't think it takes much imagination:

With some rare exceptions, such as Lester Koenig.

I wish I could read German--24.99 Euros ($30.20) for the 8-CD Evans boxes! Anyone know how much they charge for shipping to the US? -
Looks like Dexter Gordon's "Manhattan Symphonie" is back today, presumably sans copy protection.
