  1. Great shot! I like the way he plays sidesaddle.
  2. Caught them in Philly a few weeks ago--and Golson earlier this year. Both great shows! Mark, I don't know if you've photographed Mabern before, but you should try to do so on Sunday. He's very expressive and interesting to watch while he plays, and should be a terrific subject.
  3. True, but the only discussion/argument from this session that I've ever actually heard is after the false start on the first take of "The Man I Love," and I was wondering if there's any other recorded discussion that was released on, e.g., the Monk Prestige Box.
  4. Tired of waiting for a Philly gig, Peter? Send me a PM with your contact info, and we'll make that happen. And in the press kits.
  5. The intro and arguement (as on the original lp) is on disc 3 of the Monk/Prestige box. Oh the pleasures of an aging brain ..... of course it's there - they had left it off the Miles Davis box set ... whatever that means. Are you guys just talking about the false start and Miles' scolding of the others on the first take of "The Man I Love," which also appears on "Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants" CDs? Or is there additional "argument" from that session on Disc 3 of the Monk Prestige box?
  6. About time! I think I ordered that one twice from them, unsuccessfully. Hopefully it's true that 3rd time's the charm.
  7. New today: Miles Davis, "Round About Midnight"--Legacy Edition with extra live disc I think they may have had this edition before, but it disappeared for a while and now they're treating it as a "new arrival."
  8. I know how you feel--mine's always jamming up on me:
  9. Cadence is Black Saint/Soul Note's US and Canadian distributor (per this). Cadence's Black Saint offerings are here, and their Soul Note offerings are here. Lots of CDs (@$15), but only a few LPs(@$9).
  10. Cleveland. Thanks Chuck, that's real helpful. Online wise guy! You're lucky--he could've just said "Ohio," or even "the midwest."
  11. You should hear their recording of Malaguena.
  12. Some Spanish stuff: Bill Evans 1960 Birdland Sessions (great price on this--$12.99) Wes Montgomery & Billy Taylor (contains "The Navy Swings" plus a later European session w/Clark Terry) Wes Montgomery/John Hendricks (contains "A Good Git-Together" plus "Kismet" with the Mastersounds)
  13. Oh happy day! Shit! How did I miss that one??? Especially with Justin!
  14. At first glance, the "complete" Red Garland At The Prelude was the one that caught my eye (think they swiped it from Disconforme? ). Of course, there are so many boots and box sets of Doris Day material already in circulation, I'm not sure how much interest there'll be in that one.
  15. Sounds like your server was infected with the dreaded Gary Coleman Virus.
  16. I agree about the Jamal--just started listening to the first several tracks today and was really diggin' it. And the sound is terrific--wonderful presence.
  17. Don't worry--I'm sure there are plenty of free iPods left.
  18. Does this mean I don't have to get up six hours early again tomorrow?
  19. Happy Birthday, John! Looking forward to getting together again so we can celebrate!
  20. And it's still available at yourmusic.com for $5.99 with free shipping, here.
  21. The Wynton title doesn't show up on the jazz "New Arrivals" list--think they're trying to say something?
  22. So you think we're all really cool? (Maybe the rest of you guys are used to be called really cool, but it's a new experience for me. -_- )
  23. Plus, she said that the people on this forum are really cool.
  24. Yourmusic.com did the same thing with this and the other XCP CDs Sony recently released.
  25. I thought I had just gotten up a lot earlier than usual.
