  1. I can't see any of them, either. WTF is Lon smokin'??? (and where can the rest of us get some?)
  2. He's right! See it here. (I hope you don't mind my posting the link, Chris.)
  3. Happy Birthday, Chris! You and my Dad share the same birthday, so I guess that makes you sort of a father figure for me. I'm sure your birthday will be as full and rich as the rest of your life. Thanks for sharing so much of that richness with us!
  4. I tend to agree; that Time album is a big favorite of mine. ← Oh yes! That's it. With three endorsements like this, and liking everything else I have of Clark's, I now have to order this.
  5. Here's the page on that set from the Music & Arts web site. You can order it directly from them for $44.85 plus $5 shipping. But note--they have this listed on their "Collector's Alert" page, meaning that they only have a few left and, once they're gone, that's it.
  6. What??? It's Brad's birthday again??? Is he 56 now??? How many birthdays does he get a year, anyway???
  7. Jeeeez, the last time I attended a concert in Houston Hall was around 1975 while I was an undergrad at Penn. It was David Sancious, who had just gone out on his own in a trio after having played keyboards with Bruce Springsteen when he first hit it big. I'd definitely be up for meeting you guys at a gig, though I'm not sure I can make a Monday night one. Fridays or Saturdays are better for me.
  8. ← I'd be up for something on Saturday evening. Why don't you guys check the Philly Jazz section of the Jazzmatazz site and pick something (except maybe for that Spyro Gyra gig at Zanzibar Blue ).
  9. Alan, I'm really sorry to hear about all of that. I noticed you hadn't been posting, but have been getting the Jazzmatazz emails like clockwork, and so figured you were just taking a break from the Board. I guess I've been a pretty shitty neighbor and should have checked. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, or if you'd like to get together sometime to catch some music, or just to shoot the breeze about anything from world events to life in Northwest Philly.
  10. Well, if it's good enough for both Alan AND Lon, then . . . . . .
  11. I thought the 6 cylinders would ruin his rep, so I smashed 'em. Then you obviously are unaware of the long-lost 7th.
  12. If I spent that kind of money on an LP, I think I'd be too afraid to ever play it.
  13. TM, why not send an email to Blue Note (check their site for an address) and see what you can find out (including the answer to Lon's question as to whether these will be new transfers)? And then you can report back to the rest of us.
  14. Nope--just ignoring you.
  15. here, go look at some pictures instead Thanks! I enjoyed looking at those! But, sadly, no pictures of Organissimo. Guess those guys didn't come to Philly in 1926, either. ← so some artist visited your town less than 80 years ago! why are you complaining? heheh. that pic with the trust company stuffed between those high high buildings is pretty awesome, should prove inspiring! Believe it or not, that trust company building was recently converted to a Ritz-Carlton Hotel (along with the neighboring office tower). It has quite an impressive lobby under that beautiful rotunda.
  16. here, go look at some pictures instead Thanks! I enjoyed looking at those! But, sadly, no pictures of Organissimo. Guess those guys didn't come to Philly in 1926, either.
  17. Do you deliver? (To Philly?) ← If it wasn't raining, I might... Then I'll take a rain check.
  18. Do you deliver? (To Philly?)
  19. It's also amazing that JJ's been sitting in "Running Low" for so long, and hasn't even moved into "Last Chance."
  20. More on this in today's Philadelphia Inquirer, here, with a couple more photos (see box on right of page).
  21. Mrs. Ron is IN town this weekend but, alas, no Organissimo gig in our town to attend.
  22. There was something in the Philadelphia Inquirer about this today--the seminary was going to have it on public display for just this afternoon. It would have been nice to go see it, but it didn't work out.
  23. Cheater.
  24. Let me know--that would be a lot of fun. Even more fun would be to catch Organissimo's organ gig at Ortlieb's.
