  1. Well, I wasn't, at first, gonna weigh in, but from a guy who thinks practically everything from Apple is user-friendly, I gotta disagree. For almost 8 years now I've been archiving and creating thru various incarnations of iMovie with only one bit of difficulty during a production for a NY filmmaker a few years ago. It turned out that it was a serious glitch that was taken care of in an update....so that was that. As has been said here, there are fine tutorials in the program itself and if that doesn't help, I'd suggest a trip over to the very knowledgeable folks at the Forums over at Apple itself. There's also Bob Hudson's place here with additional links. Hope this is of some help!

  3. two cents please... Yes, it often feels good to start anew - tabula rasa - for both the website and for all of us. Suggestion(s): Close this next week (or sooner) and begin a new Forum on 4th of July weekend ("America's music", Louis Armstrong, ...) with a new name not associated with the band, but has the word "jazz" in it: Jazz Hangout, Jazz Bordello, House of Jazz and Hip Priests, whatever... and this will give everyone a month off to reflect and cool their jets. "The change'll do you good" I think Jim should have a blog (instead of or in addition to Facebook) to post exciting news, interesting events, or just plain ol' stuff about his band. This will provide a place to direct any future possible employers that want to see what's developing and has the added advantage of content completely controlled by Jim. No mention or weblinks to the future jazz site. Connections between the two (band and new jazz site) will undoubtedly be made sooner or later, but it'd appear as simply another jazz musician on a public forum who has a band. An idea. best in whatever you decide Jim, ®ø∂
  4. Red matter is detailed in "Star Trek: Countdown" I believe. "Star Trek" was often scientifically unbelievable, so good science is probably not what one should expect when watching this. I plan on seeing it again - probably this weekend - something practically unheard of for me since I generally see only about 2 or 3 films during a particularly good year.
  5. Looking at the title of the thread, I was expecting to see Van Morrison on McHale's Navy!
  6. more times than Freddie Hubbard
  7. That link in the comments takes you to her current webpage: http://www.citycabaret.com/corkyhale/#Welcome The "background" and "career" links have some interesting stories.
  8. Cute and funny (if yer into that kinda thing...)
  9. I think the bass player mailed his part in right when the rates went from 12 to 15 cents.
  10. They're identical to the boxset - just split up into smaller sets.
  11. French Lolita. Man drives his fancy car into a girl's bike while she's still on it. Romance ensues. Girl dies in plane crash.
  12. I miss "Left Bank"...I get questions whenever I wear their t-shirt. Here in Dallas, both Borders and B&N keep WaxPoetics in stock. Actually, it's worth the subscription! ®
  13. I'd have to say that the only other time something similar happened was actually with a psychotic poodle (!) that was in the house where I grew up. I was 13 and I came home after a very memorable summer trip and found 3 LPs mangled. Major chunks out of the corners of Gary Burton's "Throb" and the ECM "Return to Forever" cover and nearly the whole top half of the first Soft Machine LP was missing! Pissed beyond belief.
  14. It could happen if he finds a way to fit the band in a story...but there has to be something..."unique" I would think. The band that I managed for a few years ended up in an episode of the Simpsons - both musically and as caricatures of the whole band.
  15. Apparently, nobody liked him. • "I believe it was Mark Evanier who told the story of once asking Imogene Coca (Ross' co-star in IT'S ABOUT TIME) to comment on Joe E. Ross and she simply replied in her inimitable way, 'That DREADFUL man!'" • "TV GUIDE's Web site once detailed how much Ross and Car 54 co-star Fred Gwynne despised each other. I can imagine, considering Ross's hard-boiled nature compared to Gwynne's refined, almost blue-blood nature." oh, sheesh...
  16. You mean "ooh, ooh" Ross dontcha? You have to say that each had a very unique (i.e. unforgettable) personality!
  17. Love the dancin'!!! The kitty condo in that picture is store-bought, but the other one (grey-colored) was built one sunny afternoon in the garage.
  18. Well, currently I have a few photo batches up: one is just of the little girl - the first photo is actually of her coming home last August: http://stasick.org/Lily/ and a second batch is right after we got the boy in February: http://stasick.org/LilyLux/ you can see troublemaker in his eyes -

  20. "Antelope Freeway, one mile" "Antelope Freeway, one half mile" "Antelope Freeway, one quarter mile" "Antelope Freeway, one eighth mile" "Antelope Freeway, one sixteenth mile" "Antelope Freeway, one thirtysecondth mile" "Antelope Freeway, one sixty-fourth mile" "Antelope Freeway, one one-hundred-and-twenty-eighth mile" ...
  21. Great! Glad you were able to ferret out a home for him.
  22. Oh, it's OK, for sitting...just not chewing.
  23. Not sure I understand... "Tuesday Morning"? Not really purple methinks...but, anyway, in a fit of quickly moving some boxsets to higher ground, I noticed these on the side and grabbed a couple of towels from an unused stash in the garage and began covering - good until these sets are filed away soon...
  24. I've covered up some of the unfiled Mosaics too - just in case...
