  1. Ours are still going strong with an average of 53.2mpg for the 2002 version and 49.6mpg for the 2001 with those rates slowly climbing. 100 California Households Get to Test Drive Plug-In Priuses
  2. I once got a large wide sheet of white construction paper; cut a hole for my head and let the paper drape over the front and back of my body. Then, I spread chunky peanut butter on both sides. I went as used toilet paper.
  3. An album with 500 locked grooves by 500 different artists:
  4. http://hitoftheweek.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html It's near the very bottom of the page. I PM'd him. Rod
  5. I think Durium posted this on his blog last year. Maybe he can comment more on it's history.
  6. He's probably on the couch as we speak!
  7. Oh, good to hear this. In June, I was told that it would be out sometime in September, but I haven't taken the time to look yet - probably right now would be a good time. If you see the two issues there, just take a while to thumb through them. You'll notice that there's a nice variety (in #1, at least) - some score excerpts with explanations for the composer in you...and some interesting views on music for the intellectually curious side of you.
  8. The thing that I like the most about it is that each article is a microcosm of each composer/musician's personality. Some can go on inteminably with whatever they choose to talk about but some are very precise analyses of a particular style of playing or compositional approach. I'm experiencing first hand John Zorn's rather "hands-off" approach because he's asked me to submit to Arcana 3, but is very flexible about content and size (within reason - there's quality, you know ) (I'm literally sitting here finishing the writing with graphics scanning to be completed after dinner). Arcana 2 should be out now or very soon, but I don't know who's included. If you need a listing for #1, I can tell you...and I've been given a temporary list for #3, but we'll see what the final list brings. The collection of artists really is a great collection of the artists of our time!
  9. I'm still waiting for Braxton to catch up on his writings.
  10. Yeah, what a bunch of sheep!
  11. A short distance from me is Cimarec St. Always thought it was an odd name... then, one day while out walking, I suddenly realized that it was the word "ceramic" spelled backwards (!?)
  12. Bituminoise (2001) is for a single operating asphalt melting kettle, binaural microphone and digital recording medium. Because it's been reduced to an mp3, some of the deep, rich lower frequencies as well as the ghostly bell-like frequencies don't appear as strong as in the original excerpt. Headphones may help.
  13. Could we please stop talking about not talking about jazz and get back to not talking about it please!!!
  14. but why would you wanna do that?
  15. ummm, and they themselves?
  16. Wow, and I thought my level of cynicism was high! Haven't read the books, but I've been dragged to the films (which I have to admit that I enjoyed), but my wife, who has read all of the books, said "Oh! That explains a lot!" when I showed her the news item. It seems that way to me as well after I thought about the encounters between this character and the rival "Gellert" and after some explanation of what happened in the books.

(AP) — Porter Wagoner has lung cancer and remains hospitalized in serious condition, a publicist for the country singer said Saturday. His Nashville publicist, Darlene Bieber, said she had no further information about his condition. The 80-year-old singer in May celebrated his 50th year at the Grand Ole Opry, the long-running live country music show. Wagoner, known for his rhinestone stage outfits, helped launch the career of Dolly Parton by hiring her as his duet partner in 1967. Parton visited Wagoner in the hospital last week and pledged to sing with him again, Opry spokeswoman Jessie Schmidt had said Friday. This year, he and partner Marty Stuart released the CD "Wagonmaster," earning Wagoner some of the best reviews of his career. Hosted by Google

  19. WOW! Randy Weston with Big Black! I could only imagine!
  20. Anyone who missed Fair Game last night can hear mp3s here. Sharon Jones told a story about singing at a wedding party. The groom was being tossed up in the air using a large tablecloth as a kind of trampoline. Jones was singing Shout ("You know you make me want to SHOUT...") during all of this and something went wrong and BAM, the groom landed on his head. They had to call an ambulance, etc... but she said that she just kept right on singing...
  21. Did you guys pay CD prices for the CD-R?
