  1. Up to college, I wore excessively stylish clothes. After I realized how uncomfortable they really were, I made a 180° to really extreme random "styles" - often going out in various combinations of pajamas, kimonos, and/or the funkiest of thrift-store threads mixed with bright neon or loud design ties, really bright children's jewelry, and mismatched colored Converses. Nowadays, I still prefer the kimono around the house, homemade or limited edition XL (or larger!) t-shirts while out and about while throwing a black or gold sport coat over for more "formal" occasions.
  2. I first heard this beat in 1964 or 5 in Boston. A guy named Hershel Dwellingham III from Bogoloosa, Louisiana, is credited with bringing it to Boston. I believe he called it the Fatback. Nobody in Boston had heard it until that time. Hershel used to hold court with drummers standing around him in awe , watching and learning the Fatback. He did it a hell of a lot cleaner and clearer than any samples on the recording/link, BTW, seriously. The same guy who's on Weather Report's Sweetnighter? I can believe it.
  3. http://tinyurl.com/38czss I'm of conflicting minds about this chap. Yes, his tunes for these shows had an unmistakable Hazelhurst stamp - I often found myself coming across a "new" British sitcom and could immediately tell that it was a Hazelhurst score - but, to me, it wasn't necessarily a good thing because they nearly always seemed steeped in a grand schmaltz and were often devoid of any depth - leaving me to wonder why the BBC continued to request music from this guy who always appeared to be decades behind other TV soundtrack creators. Maybe he was a lovable eccentric.
  4. I'm wondering if Seven Over Eight is 7/4's half-brother.

  7. This passes for comedy in Norway? I'll have to ask a friend there... Good for Oddo. He's right and he saw thru it almost immediately. Why waste his and taxpayer's time with this crap? Nothing funny here.

  14. With my bitter dislike for Dylan in tow, I could be wrong on this, but I thought that "Clothesline Saga" was his parody of this song - one that he actually thought was an awful song.
  15. I'll take most anything done for PBS' show POV, then anything Ken Burns does. Sentimental wanker...
