Yes, this is really nice. I watch this every once in a while while exercising on the treadmill. (Huh? you're saying!) It's available on a nice 2 DVD collection called The Greatest Jazz Films Ever. It's the segment from the Jazz at the Philharmonic. Here's the backside of it so you can see what's on it:

Soul Zodiac has the painted lady on the front, but what is Soul of the Zodiac? Is this a second part...or continuation or...? Rod

What ongoing thread do you never look at?

Funny Rat just once or twice. Great music, I'm sure, but it's seems too unwieldy and a bit provincial. oh, and the BFT sections... -
Well, that's Moanin' and Groanin' from Hooker kinda put in a blender methinks...It's available, I think, on the Hot Spot soundtrack as just Moanin' edit: i should say that it samples a track from the Hot Spot Anyway, Chas is probably right - maybe she be spamin' Rod

Had no problems here either when it came to refunds from Paypal. It was handled very quickly. You may want to check their site to become familiar with the process just in case. Also, if you're concerned about this guy's reason for not accepting CC payments, it's because as soon as he starts accepting them, as a "seller" he'll be charged a percentage of his "sales" (even if it's just a simple transaction involving no merchandise). I don't accept CC's either for this same reason. Rod

Not sure if you want to put this in the "Political" section, but I think everyone will have a chuckle with this (yes, it does have to do with Don Knotts): Dubyamovie address edited...

Fun band! Have you ever heard the Nina Hagen version of that single? Rod (who's reminded of the Tubeway Army too!) --- Now playing: The Mills Brothers - Caravan

I hope that this hasn't been posted already. I figure that it could really encourage discussion. Using the famous Harry Beck designed London Underground map, some key folks in 20th century music find their ideas intersecting: The Map and it's creation. Rod

I think that someday I need to begin reading this thread too, but like Jazzmoose, I'm waiting to hit the Lottery. Rod

A long time ago, when the Earth was green There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen They'd run around free while the Earth was being born And the loveliest of all was the unicorn There was green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born The loveliest of all was the unicorn The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain" He says, "Hey Noah, I'll tell you what to do Build me a floating zoo, and take some of those... Green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born Don't you forget My unicorns Old Noah was there to answer the call He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall He marched the animals two by two And he called out as they came through Hey Lord, I've got green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn I just can't find no unicorns" And Noah looked out through the driving rain Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling Oh, them silly unicorns There was green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Noah cried, "Close the door because the rain is falling And we just can't wait for no unicorns" The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried And the waters came down and sort of floated them away That's why you never see unicorns to this very day You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born You're never gonna see no unicorns Now you might think this is the ending to the song, But I'll have to tell you friends that in fact you're wrong You see, Unicorns are magical, so when the rain started pouring, They grew themselves some wings and they took to soaring. You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees But if you're looking for the unicorns, don't be forlorn, The second star to the right and straight on until morning.

Oh, good to hear this! I was thinking that it may be pretty good - and I'm testing while narrowcasting which probably makes some diff. It's $19.95 and I understand that the "point" is just about 1/3 mile from me. Rod --- Now playing: Tiny Fuller - Shock -

I'm still going 'round and 'round about this - should I spend the extra or not for cable. I can't really complain about my DSL. They "promised" 1.5/384 and I get about 2.7/496, so I'm happy, but I'm thinking of doing the research again on cable. I think our friend JSngry had some probs with...was it Verizon?...at one time? R --- Now playing: Jackie McLean/John Jenkins - Alto Madness -

Yessir..me too! I don't understand this. Are you saying Mr. Ricky that you have to turn your computer off and on to keep connected? That's a funny story 'bout the guy who turns his modem off because it may overheat Instructions: "To maximize connection speed, leave this modem on for at least 10 days after DSL installation is complete." I began imagining that it was making this imaginary groooove in conceptual space Rod --- Now playing: Virgil Gonsalves Sextet - Yesterdays -
Oh, yes! sorry I'm late too! Hope you had a music-filled day of joy!

I use Speakeasy too, but I've been accessing it the past few years thru this site. I agree with David about Comcast. I reluctantly went with SBC (now AT&T again) after they cut my phone off accidently one full weekend - and they weren't even my phone company at that time! But after a few months of research, I went with them afterall because of their price and service. Of course, I've heard horror stories from others, so I could just be one of the lucky ones. Wish I had more upload (449) for the rodcasts tho... -
If you think of him next to Elton Dean and think of the different directions that the Soft Machine personnel went, it's pretty sad really...

Thanks Mike. I'll keep that in mind when I'm back there this summer.
