Things Written On Used LPs You've Picked Up
rostasi replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Just now seeing this. Subotnick showed up at the electronic music studio in Denton at what was North Texas State University in 1976. He was there for a few days doing some daily sessions as an instructor in electronic music. Got him to sign a copy of his new album with the new work that was going to be premiered later, one night, on campus. It was that "Until Spring" LP. -

Charles Blackwell (1940-2024) That Goykovich has Mal Waldron on it doesn't it? This doesn't swing as much. 😁

Damaged Mosaic boxes - what do you do with them?
rostasi replied to AaronG's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'd carefully cut the flaps off the sides and frame what's left. -

This Is It & I Am It & You Are It & So Is That & He Is It & She Is It & It Is It & That Is That by Marnie Stern

Happy that I didn't come across that problem (or update). I'm in El Capitan anyway. Haven't updated in about 6 years.

So that was an actual Apple problem - having to do with updates, but updates are such a pain anymore anyway (ask people who own SONOS speakers!)

My copy of that looks a bit different, but what I remember most about that album is that there's this distinctive "pop" (as in "popping") sound at the very end of the first track. In '76, as a college student, I would point the speakers out the window and send that loud popping sound out into the middle of an enclosed quad area and drive other students cRaZy. Cheap thrill when you're 17 or 18.

Oh, it wasn't that much of a surprise at the time, because when I first saw it she was with me and saw me trying to decide on whether to buy it. It was a bit pricey and I had no way of hearing it ... but she knew I had a lot of earlier stuff from them and she bought it later - probably Xmas? - for me. Even tho people send me recordings, nobody attempts to buy any music for me because it would be difficult to say the least. and, yes, recently. It says near the bottom that it was just last Friday. All twenty pieces are done magnificently by her. I've especially liked Maeander for over 50 years now. It hasn't lost it's beautifulness after all of this time.

What mjzee said is a lot of it. The "1 GB can hold 16 hours of music" statement is relative. At 320kbps, for instance, 1 GB is only equal to a teeny bit over 7 hours. Also, second guessing a decision concerning Apple should be based on the company and not on personal ignorance of some technical issue.

for what? Part of a fantastic re-release (and remastering) of a recording I've cherished for over 50 years. Aki Takahashi: Piano Space 4
