  1. Brings up a thought, probably a silly one since I expect Allen is on top of it - but has the set been offered on Blindman's Blues forum? Yes
  2. Up for some air
  3. The set was discussed in the more recent posts of this thread. Please continue there, to keep all info and opinions in one place.
  4. So this means I did well in ordering my copy of this 9-CD set through amazon. :D Saved you a lot of trouble, and anyway ... if I figure in the 19% VAT customs duty I would have been likely to pay on the price when collecting that shipment coming from the US (not even mentioning the time and fuel spent to got to the customs office), then the amazon rate is only marginally higher. I take it you ordered it from one of the European Amazon sites; which one?
  5. The original Prestige CD-sets were no-noised. The Sonic Solutions NoNOISEâ„¢ logo was printed on the back inserts of the sets.
  6. Please do not quote full articles. See this forum rule. I have removed part of the article.
  7. Sale closed, thread closed.
  8. All tracks but one have been issued on Blue Note and Pacific Jazz Art Pepper CDs before, including the Joe Morello and Bill Perkins dates, but the CDs are now all OOP and appear to be pretty expensive. The Joe Morello tracks appeared on the Blue Note CD The Return of Art Pepper, the Bill Perkins tracks on the Pacific Jazz CD The Artistry of Pepper. The track missing on the individual CDs is "Angel Eyes". As DrJ said the Pepper Mosaic was 24-bit remastered, which people may prefer. Also, a Mosaic set has a special appeal for many people, especially when it's OOP.
  9. I've sent the original poster a PM about this thread and locked the new one.
  10. Everyone is free to ask what they want for an item. Please do not question the price; this is not the place for it and it could frustrate the sale. If you don't like the price someone's asking, just ignore the thread.
  11. Up for some air.
  12. Also posted here. Please reply to that thread. This thread is closed.
  13. I'd call it a missed opportunity. As I've said before the old Ellington Carnegie Hall sets sound pretty bad to my ears. Pity.
  14. Does it say anything about the mastering, was it newly done and if so, by whom, or did they use the old masterings?
  15. You're right, of course. I was just replying to Victor's post, in which he put the later album before the earlier one The first album, Look, Stop and Listen, is available on CD from Amazon.com and Amazon U.K..
  16. To make a search for the albums easier: the title of the first Uptown is Look, Stop and Listen and the second Uptown is called To Tadd with Love. The latter is indeed OOP, but vinyl copies may still be around.
  17. According to the All Music Guide this Carole King song has been recorded by several jazz musicians, but I couldn't find any acoustic bass/guitar duet versions.
  18. I don't think this date will be reissued on CD any time soon, considering the declining CD sales and the state of EMI.
  19. Correct. The cost of any legal action can be very high. Bear Family sued JSP for stealing BF's masterings and won, but they didn't follow it up because of the prohibitive cost.
  20. Bear in mind that this is an international forum and that incorrect English is not always easy to understand for members whose first language isn't English If we're going to talk in really International English it's probably not going to look like 'correct' British or US English at all. IE teachers use a basic vocabulary of about 1500 words. Good news - 'jazz' is one of them! But we will never speak of hard bop again ...

  22. Don't forget the "why"
  23. Me too, just now. I paid dearly for it, but it's worth it! Now onto Shank/Cooper, Slack, Richards, Pepper and Dexter! Good luck with those. Most of them are now hard to find and pretty expensive. I am still looking for the Slack, but I'm not prepared to pay big bucks for it.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if they just repackaged the original CDs. That's my assumption too, even though the Cam Jazz website says "patiently integrally remastered paying strict attention to the sound quality". I hadn't seen that.
  25. I wouldn't be surprised if they just repackaged the original CDs. That might cause a few copyright problems.
