I am under the impression that to do so would require a Ouija board. (in other words, he's dead.) He was born in 1929, but when did he die?

Upcoming Lucky Thompson Select tracklisting
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Not quite true - sessions F, G, H and I appeared on the 1993 CD Tricotism, Impulse! GRD-135. F, G and H are on CD here: And so is session I. -
Ahmad Jamal and Carter/Bradford Mosaics can be pre-ordered
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Or, if you really didn't want to be offensive, you could simply say the obvious, that they are different players with different conceptions. Stating that Gene Harris "could only dream" of playing like Jamal implies that he wanted to or tried to and failed at it. I could just as easily say that Jamal could only dream of playing like Gene Harris or driving an audience into a frenzy like Gene did. Uh, no. Crosby and Fournier were something special, and so were Bill and Andy. Different doesn't in anyway mean better. I think you've listened to one too many Eric Alexander Venus lp's. Excellent non sequitur. Thanks for playing. Dumb ass. Insulting other members who don't agree with you doesn't make your arguments stronger, on the contrary. -
Upcoming Lucky Thompson Select tracklisting
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Why don't you ask Mosaic about the underlying concept of their Selects in general and this one in particular? I'm sure Scott Wenzel will be happy to answer your questions. -

I'm still hoping for a Milt Jackson/Lucky Thompson Savoy set. -

Om was included in the collection The Major Works of John Coltrane, but apart from that set it was only issued on single CDs on the Impulse! label.

Ahmad Jamal and Carter/Bradford Mosaics can be pre-ordered
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I guess I don't have your sense of humour - which isn't necessarily a bad thing Or giving out info before deals are concluded might lead to negative reactions from the owners of the rights. I understand that it has happened before. -
As I posted elsewhere on the board several more Mosaic sets are planned, including an LP-set. I can't name any artists at this stage because they don't have any clearance yet from the owners of the rights. The Ahmad Jamal set is scheduled for release in July 2010.

Thanks, Kevin. Errr... I'm not Kevin Scott mentioned quite a few names to me, but not Lucky Thompson (unfortunately). -

Many more sets are planned including an LP-set, but, since they don't have clearance yet from the owners of the rights, I can't post anything about them at this stage. -
No need to shout. What about your money order? They've not gone under, so you've not lost the money. What are you so worked up about? Again, no need to shout. Warn you about what? That Mosaic is having a difficult time? Almost everyone here knows that, and there's no need for them to tell you. You're acting as if they've gone out of business, which isn't the case.

Last Chance: Curtis Amy and Bennie Green Mosaic Selects
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The Curtis Amy Select is now the only one left in the "Last Chance" category. As was mentioned elsewhere on this board, the excellent Beiderbecke/Trumbauer/Teagarden set is "Running Low". -
??? Any number of threads on this forum (and elsewhere) seem to indicate quite the contrary. At least to me. They're not spending enough money
-
Don't count on it. As was repeatedly posted on this board, some of the tapes are missing.
-
I have ordered CDs that were listed on Ray Mizutani/Mundo's site several times, but seven times out of ten he was not able to supply them. The CD stocklists of many artists on his site haven't been updated in ages.

New Soul Station XRCD Blue Note - out now. Sounds great!
J.A.W. replied to monkboughtlunch's topic in Re-issues
Visions HAS been a TOCJ cd before. . . . Oh - I never noticed that, and it's an album I'd have snapped up in a trice. When did it come out? MG 1993 -
Thanks! Which one cost the most? Volume 5? I got my set in that price range as well, but #5 I had to really dish out for (as new). Considering that a very nice person gave me Volume 6 for free, I still - in total - stayed in the price range of these eBay items. *relief* You can't access the page I linked to in my post #23 either? Thought you were an eBay member. Here are the results - contrary to what I posted earlier the highest bid was $57: Vol.1 - $31.00 Vol.2 - $22.50 Vol.3 - $57.00 Vol.4 - $56.55 Vol.5 - $56.55 Vol.6 - $38.99 Vol.7 - $36.51
-
They've been working on more sets than those two; let's hope they'll be able to get them past the planning stages.
-
They'll be even more costly when eBay is the only place to get them...
-
Cutting loose the Phil Schaap stuff isn't a very big loss in my view

Bix/Trumbauer/Teagarden now in "Running Low"
J.A.W. replied to Ron S's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I think you and I were posting at the same time--it just took me a few minutes to get the formatting correct in my quotation box. Maybe the two threads can be merged. I PMed the moderators about it. By the way, Hans--you forgot to mention the news about the Bix/Trumbauer/Teagarden set. That wasn't the topic of my thread
