Ray Mizutani (Mundo) is probably right.

Brad, I was told by a few U.K. sources that they did use remasterings that were done by other labels. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to verify these allegations, which is why I used the word "rumors", but what I was told was actually a bit stronger than that. Anyway, I choose not to buy CDs from labels that are vague at best about the origins of their remasterings. I prefer labels that do their own remastering jobs (Mosaic, Bear Family, Yazoo, County, and the like) and I'm happy to pay extra for that.

You're absolutely right, Céline was indeed a despicable character. As for "Journey to the End of the Night", I also plead guilty... I have the edition with the wonderful illustrations by Jacques Tardi. Not to be missed.
-
The latter. I don't want to support labels that "borrow" remasterings, and, like I said, it is rumored that Proper is doing just that.
-
I pointed out to the seller that his description was misleading, and he cancelled the auction.
-
I simply don't like the Proper set (I should have said so in my post instead of advising against it). Besides, it's one of those labels that are rumored to have "borrowed" remasterings by others, but I don't know if that's true.
-
My advice would be to get the Mosaic and forget about the Proper.

Blakey's '65 Limelight sides w/Gilmore, Morgan
J.A.W. replied to ghost of miles's topic in Re-issues
They would have sold one more (to me) if the Gilmore stuff was restored. Same here. -
Yeah well, he could write up a bit of all that knowledge instead of pissing people up their legs over nothing. I am a bit tired of this schtick of bad manners, bad syntax, and bad attitude all for the good of knowing nobody-really-knows-what about Hank and Warne and whom else and bragging about it. Big deal, I have never seen him display it much beyond yelling at others when they are not informed about what colour pants Hank wore on this record date he did after watering his plants and humming up that new tune that is so awesome it makes you go all whack and think of nothing but that redhead that cruises the campus... So fuck me with some genuine *info* on the Hankster or the Marshman then, I'll lap it all up. But please watch your syntax and leave your caps off. It's really very very tiring. Form does matter you know, Warne knows, Hank knows. Grow up. Well put John, I couldn't agree more

What do you think of JSP's Box sets?
J.A.W. replied to Saxophone__Vagina's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
This thread might interest you. (Off topic: I really don't like your handle) -
John, Where did you pick this one up? The Music Resource can't get it anymore, Cadence's overseas shipping rate is a bit steep and I couldn't find it anywhere else. I either got it through Verge or Cadence. It was probably Verge, but I don't believe they have it in stock anymore. They don't

Thanks for the info, Brownie. I believe French movie star Alain Delon also has fascist political ideas; he's a Jean-Marie Le Pen supporter too. What's it with some of these stars of the French cinéma??
-
I was wondering about that too.
-
Cripes, now that picture's engraved in my mind, just when I was hoping for a good night's sleep... Thanks Vint!!
-
I was merely pointing out that I find her fascist political views revolting and abject; it's got nothing to do with her looks - past or present.
-
She is; she's really nasty. BB is a staunch supporter of extreme right-wing French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen. She is indeed. She really is. But I'm weak, really weak. Caught the other day an early film of her 'La Lumiere d'En Face', made in 1955 when she was 21. The film is pretty bad but Brigitte (or Brijou as she is often called here) was stunning. Beautiful. To die for. I can't ignore her extreme rightwing politics. But I'm weak and I forgive her when I remember how wonderful she was in her prime... In my opinion her (former) looks don't excuse her fascist political ideas. Hans, wait till you see the Light (La Lumiere d'en Face, I mean). I'm sure all will be forgiven... Oh no, it will not - by the way, I've seen several of her movies on television, and found them all appallingly bad.
-
I've decided... YES! Why count the fence sitters and easy-going folks. Take a stand on these vital issues, dammit! Yep.
-
You really don't want to know.
