  1. That looks like a political statement to me. I don't think this is the place for something like that.
  2. Bev, I couldn't agree more!
  3. I was thinking about importing the Japanese version until I found out that it's copy-controlled.
  4. There will be, if you pile up the residents.
  5. Of course, now that we have a place to talk about you behind your back... Ha, now I'll be able to plead ignorance!
  6. The JJJ Mosaic is one of their best in my opinion. Some of JJJ's best work is included in that wonderful set
  7. Good idea! You can put my name on the "non-political member" list.
  8. Mr D'Imperio, Maybe you should read the boardrules again.
  9. I got the CD today and just played it - it's great, with lots of tracks backed by Ray Charles in a quartet setting or with his band, with Hank Crawford, Teddy Edwards, David Newman, Marcus Belgrave, Howard Roberts and others. Highly recommended!
  10. Here is an interesting post about reissue labels by "Montgomery Cleft" on a blues bulletin board - I know, I've also posted this link in another thread a while ago, but it might interest readers of this thread too.
  11. John, That is a great avatar! Love that Monk, especially now!
  12. I second that!
  13. Kevin is now posting (irregularly) on AAJ.
  14. Gianni Gebbia - Arcanum Major / Sonic Tarots Session - Rastascan; never mind the "tarots" reference - this is a great free solo sax session Andrew Hill - Dance with Death - Blue Note; like I said before, this great session should really be reissued on CD Maneri Ensemble - Going to Church - AUM Fidelity; beautiful free music
  15. What about the Bax symphonies, Bev? They seem to be controversial, though I don't know why. Chandos have just released a "Complete" box set by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra under Vernon Handley, which is one of Gramophone's "Editor's Choices" for December 2003. The review is rather good.

    Solo Sax

I've been listening to this one as well, and, apart from the "Tarots" reference which I don't care for at all, this is a great solo session, which I'd recommend to those even remotely interested in avant / improv
  17. I wish DD would start posting here. I miss his posts about freer styles and European jazz in particular, especially now that he isn't posting much on AAJ anymore.
  18. Latest AAJ news: deep banned...
  19. According to this thread, this particular administrator seems to have realized that. Its inclination towards freer styles is the main reason for my interest in the AAJ board.
  20. Same here. Was it a political thread? This thread is a good example. As long as a guy like deep keeps holding the AAJ board hostage and terrorizing it like he's doing now, I'm not going to post over there. Every time a poster is saying something deep doesn’t like (which is almost all of the time, unless it's Patricia / Still Life), they get a bashing; my English is not good enough to counter sexist, childish and offensive posts like his. It's beginning to look like deep is controlling the AAJ board.
  21. An incredible price for a great album.
  22. vs. daily rations of Stuttgarter Hofbrau!!! You gotta be joking? You can have both here!
  23. Leeb.

  25. Sorry, but I really hate Oranjeboom; watery beer which used to give me bad hangovers (don't drink it anymore). Duvel is a great Belgian beer, I love it.
