Thanks Brownie, but "the links in your link" aren't working either, even with my firewall disabled. Anyway, according to the Verge site there's some vocalizing on the Tsahar disc; I hate that, so I think I'd better pass. Pity.
  2. Well, I'm a European and I find it distasteful, and that's got nothing to do with being a puritan or not.

Where did you get the Assif Tsahar disc, John? I tried the Marge website, but the links don't work.

Hmm, I might give it one more chance - better wait a while, I guess, until the bad taste in my mouth from yesterday's experience is gone I'm now listening to this one: What's it with DD's (err... Dave Douglas') playing that annoys me, I wonder - can't quite put my finger on it...
  5. Very soon some of these reissues will be younger than you are going to be my head hurts. I'm not used to moving so fast through the fourth dimension. I just returned from a parallel universe

  7. That's what you get when you're getting old as fast as you are...
  8. Here's the older thread about these reissues. They were released in Germany on February 4, 2004.
  9. What's that, "rules"?

I'm not too fond of Douglas' playing on Constellations either. I need to listen to my other Dave Douglas CDs (In Our Lifetime, Dave Douglas Five and Convergence) again...

I've just been listening to this one for the second time: and it's gone right to my "get rid of" pile. What a waste of time! Another "guitar-infested" album - Brad Shepik this time. I dislike this kind of guitar playing immensely, it sounds totally out of place to me in free / improv.

Wow, what a great album this is - with one exception, the second track (Greensleeves). They should have deconstructed that old warhorse until nothing was left of it... Very imaginative playing, with lots of great interaction. I love Shipp's piano playing.
  13. Yes!
  14. I'm having problems now too - though on and off.
  15. My Main Man was released on CD in Japan on January 28, 2004: Universal UCCC-9077. Hiroshi Tanno will undoubtedly be able to supply it: hiroshi@earlyrecords.com.
  16. ...and many happy returns!
  17. One of his best albums:
  18. At $29.99 it looks a bit overpriced to me.
  19. I keep wondering where Jay & Marie get their $0.01 Mosaics from... By the way, this Brookmeyer set is already up to $37
  20. The board is extremely slow again today.
  21. Same here.
  22. Well, maybe they didn't include the Coltrane-less tracks because it was the "Miles with Coltrane" box Seriously, I seem to remember someone on the "old board" posted something about a disc or set that would include those Coltrane-less Mobley tracks from Someday, but I'm not sure.
  23. Gary, you can delete the thread yourself by going to the menu at the lower left hand corner and choose "delete this topic" or whatever it says.
