Why don't you send them another e-mail? In my experience their customer service is excellent, the best I've ever encountered and they usually respond within a couple of days max.

Whole batch of Mosaic Selects and Singles running low
J.A.W. replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
It's pure speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to get rid of the remaining Singles and Selects as soon as possible, even if the licenses are not expiring soon or the total sold is not even near the limit, and concentrate on the big boxes. -

Real Gone Music is legit - indeed, not to be confused with the European public-domain label Real Gone Jazz. They (Real Gone Music) are an American label whose owner posts regularly over on the Hoffman board. http://realgonemusic...re.com/browse/1

Problems with Amazon Marketplace seller ZOverstocks
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Miscellaneous Music
I posted the same topic over on the Hoffman board and most of the reactions were moderately positive. Seems I've had a streak of (very) bad luck with this seller. However, I don't think I'll be ordering from them again, at least no used CDs. The fact remains that their customer service is not the best I've ever encountered - and that's putting it mildly. -
Problems with Amazon Marketplace seller ZOverstocks
J.A.W. replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Miscellaneous Music
Having done business with ZOverstocks many times my advice would be not to buy used CDs from them, the discs seem to be systematically overgraded, and in my experience their customer service is a mess. -
I've recently had nothing but problems with Amazon marketplace seller ZOverstocks. Three of my recent orders didn't arrive (at least one appeared not to have been dispatched, even though my credit card was charged), the condition of some of the used CDs that did arrive was appalling, far worse than "very good" as described by them, and their customer service didn't reply to some of my e-mails. I got refunds in all cases, some via Amazon after filing "A to Z" claims, but doing business with them has really been a nuisance. Has anyone else had problems with them?

There will be no more Selects, the series was axed by Mosaic. From now on they will exclusively release big boxes. This may have been discussed but do you know why no more Selects. I assume existing inventory wasn't moving or not moving fast enough. The series was not cost-effective; in other words, they were losing money on the Selects. The Singles series was also axed.

They looked like this: Some were useful twofers; others were compilations. I remember the sound as being good. As I said earlier to my ears the sound on those was horrible, harsh/bright, very unpleasant. To each their own.

Yep, that's Rein de Graaff.

I've read mixed reviews of the various Hickox readings over the years. For instance, the Penguin Guides I have give his Symphonies Nos.4 and 5 the highest ratings (rosettes), while others have problems with both the interpretations and the seemingly less than good Chandos recordings, which are described as being bright/harsh/sharp and lacking bass. The Penguin Guide and a trusted Dutch reviewer also give the Handley cycle good reviews, but others are not so positive there either. [edit] I checked various internet stores and found that the Hickox discs are still full price and therefore not very attractive for someone who is interested in comparing various interpretations. It'd be nice if Chandos would reissue the symphonies in a bargain-priced box, as far as I'm concerned without the extras that are on the individual discs.

But have you heard the 25-bit remaster? I think you mean 24-bit; there's no such thing as a 25-bit remaster. I actually have at least one CD that says that it is a 32-bit remaster. Some German Chess CDs were also 32-bit remastered; they were released in digipaks. They sounded awful to my ears. As far as I know there are no 25-bit remasters, but maybe Bebop was kidding; it's sometimes hard to tell on the internet

Agreed. One CD in my 3-disc Getz West Coast/East of the Sun album won't play as it nears 80 mins. Someone - I think it was Clunky (?) - said his copy had the same problem. So did mine. I currently use an old high-end CD transport from the early 1990s and it does play all three discs from that set. The transport from the late 1990s that I used before did have problems playing certain discs.

I've seen quite a few marvellous English churches from the inside (even though I'm an atheist ). The most beautiful one I've seen so far is the York Minster.
