    Why is getting the Frogs quite a nuisance? You can order them directly on their site: http://www.frog-reco...collections/all Just click on the Bessie Smith covers (there are 9) and proceed from there. They accept Visa and PayPal. In my experience current owner Paul Swinton is a nice guy and easy to deal with.

    Sorry, but the Frogs really are the ones to get; Bessie never sounded better on CD, no contest. I don't know if you're into vinyl, but the old Columbia 2LP-sets (produced by Chris Albertson) are fine. No idea if those are still easy to get and how expensive they are, though.

    Yep, the licensing deal was cancelled by the Ray Charles Estate soon after the set was released.

    Darcy is an excellent seller. His stuff is great but indeed expensive. Yasujiro is even more expensive but I'm not sure he's even selling anymore, he hasn't posted sale ads on the Hoffman board in ages.

    The best tracks are masterpieces, the mediocre tracks are excellent, and the worst tracks are pretty damn good. Excellent description.

    I signed up. I don't speak German. Is there anything I should know about the amazon.de page? I assume that like the Amazon UK page it automatically gets your address and credit card information from the main amazon.com databank. Yep, it's all interconnected, with the exception of Amazon Japan.

    My system can handle recordings of every kind (Mark Levinson electronics and Quad electrostatic speakers). Having read your comments I'm looking forward to getting the Yates next month.

    Just listened to audio samples of the William Christie and Sophie Yates Rameau CDs and liked Christie very much. Yates a bit less, though musically it still sounded good to me. The recording quality of the Yates didn't seem so good, though that is hard to judge with MP3 on crappy computer speakers.

    Just listened to audio samples of Sophie Yates' Händel CDs and I liked what I heard - musically that is, not so much sonically (MP3 on crappy computer speakers and all that). One of the CDs sounded as if it had too much reverb, unfortunately.

    Like in the Händel Keyboard Suites someone recommended Sophie Yates' interpretation of the Rameau Pièces to me, along with the Christie. Any thoughts on her version?
