Security breach or not, when I disable Adblock the widget and the ads at the bottom appear. They go away again when Adblock is re-activated. I'm using Firefox 17.

Do purchases from Amazon Marketplace sellers count? I was wondering about that too. I seem to remember that it does, but I'm not sure.

As I said, they sound different. You yourself implied that they sound different in your first message in this thread (or were you just saying the Frogs were the ones to get over the JSPs without having heard the JSPs?). Is it possible they took the Frog discs and adjusted the sound? Yes. Do you have any evidence? No. It's fine that you dislike and distrust JSP, but slinging around accusations is not helping anyone. Yes, I am aware of some of their shady doings in the past. Then again, I'm also aware of some of their non-shady ones. I said I wouldn't be surprised etc. - that's not an accusation, just a personal thought. Don't tell me what I can post or not. And for your information, I did hear some of the JSP tracks; your insinuation is totally without merit and insulting. Welcome to my ignore list.

Miles Davis - So What: Complete 1960 Amsterdam Concerts
J.A.W. replied to aurelio's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The new EU copyright rule covers all less-than-70-year-old recordings that weren't yet in the public domain when the rule came into effect; that includes 50-to-70-year-old recordings that hadn't been released yet in one way or another before the rule was changed. -

Didn't you click on the links in posts #1 and #14? These CDs can be ordered from those stores, the latter in English. -
Yep, that's it. I disabled Adblock for this board and the widget appeared. Unfortunately, at the bottom of the page all kinds of ads appeared as well... I'd like to help the board, but this is a major nuisance.

Don't see it either.

Import classical CDs, large list, most under $10
J.A.W. replied to riverrat's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I think this one's on Philips, not on Deutsche Grammophon: Mozart- Piano Concertos No. 15 KV450, No. 21 KV467, Alfred Brendel, Academy of St. Martin-In-The-Fields, Neville Marriner DG 400 018-2 “Made in W. Germany by PDO” M-/M- $9 -
I wouldn't be surprised if JSP "borrowed" the transfers/masterings Davies did for Frog and which were paid for by Frog. Frog never released any multi-CD box sets (just one 2CD-set) and I don't think they will start doing that, especially not with releases they have already issued on individual CDs.

I guess it's the same kind of deal as Dragon had with Swedish radio, who own the tapes of the Stockholm broadcasts. I don't have details, though. -
I am looking for the Ike Quebec/John Hardee Mosaic 3CD-set The Complete Blue Note Forties Recordings of Ike Quebec and John Hardee (Mosaic MD3-107) in excellent or better condition. I am willing to pay a good price for this set and I can offer the 2 Ike Quebec and 1 John Hardee CDs with the same material on Japanese Blue Note (TOCJ-66015 - Ike Quebec - Blue Harlem / TOCJ-66016 - Ike Quebec - Topsy / TOCJ-66017 - John Hardee - Tired) in part exchange. My only payment option outside the euro zone is PayPal. Please contact me via PM (the envelope button at the top right-hand corner of this page) if you're selling yours or know where I can get one. I just missed out on one on eBay due to a technical error... Thanks.

I had the 5 Columbia 2LP-sets that Chris produced back in my LP days and they did indeed sound great. Imagine my disappointment and disgust when I first heard the 2CD-sets with their horrendous sound that Columbia put out in the early 1990s. I'm glad to hear Chris had nothing to do with those.

I said earlier that there are 9 Bessie Smith Frog CDs; my mistake, there are 8.

I had that box and the sound on the Frogs was superior. The late John R.T. Davies did a really amazing job with those Frogs. It was one of Davies' last projects before he died.

See also this thread on the Hoffman board: http://forums.steveh...oncerts.302153/ The store linked to in the first post told me it is scheduled for release in the Netherlands on or around December 13. I heard the concert with Coltrane on Dutch radio years ago. The music is brilliant, with Coltrane in top form, like on the Dragon Stockholm release. -

It's taken from radio broadcasts. The release is licensed and totally legit. Not true. It is licensed by Dutch radio, who own the tapes, so it is legit. -
Just in case someone was wondering about it: that Night Train set was legit. I don't think it's that bad - apart from the error, of course.

Posting links to bootlegs is still against forum rules.

Why is getting the Frogs quite a nuisance? You can order them directly on their site: http://www.frog-reco...collections/all Just click on the Bessie Smith covers (there are 9) and proceed from there. They accept Visa and PayPal. In my experience current owner Paul Swinton is a nice guy and easy to deal with.
-
You guys don't know what you're missing - and no, I'm in no way connected with Frog
-
Sorry, but the Frogs really are the ones to get; Bessie never sounded better on CD, no contest. I don't know if you're into vinyl, but the old Columbia 2LP-sets (produced by Chris Albertson) are fine. No idea if those are still easy to get and how expensive they are, though.
-
Yep, the licensing deal was cancelled by the Ray Charles Estate soon after the set was released.

LF - Joe Lovano "Tenor Time" (Something Else)
J.A.W. replied to Kevin Bresnahan's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Darcy is an excellent seller. His stuff is great but indeed expensive. Yasujiro is even more expensive but I'm not sure he's even selling anymore, he hasn't posted sale ads on the Hoffman board in ages.
