I've never used the AAC format. I always rip to VBR MP3. You have control over your bit rate as well.

I recently got a Gateway tablet PC through work and loaded iTunes. I think what you were looking for is File > Add folder to library. iTunes on both Apple and PC seems to organize my music in files by artist name, then album. Of course, I am free to manage my files however I want. My filing has nothing to do with iTunes. I'm guessing your files look somthing like music > jazz > tyrone washington > trainwreck > track name. All ou should have to do is choose the 'music' file to add to library. Anyway, seems like you've moved on, which is fine. My music is stored on an external hard drive. Unfortunately, the drive is usb. Burning from that drive is extremely slow, but what am I going to do. Anyone know a way to replace the usb with firewire? Is there a way to retrofit an external? I'm pretty novice when it comes to this type of thing...

How could you not be a fan of those steps though? And he's still got it! I thought he brought the place down!

Damn. I just don't know how I'll be able to meet with you guys. I was really hoping to have some free time to get out of this damn hotel, but they've got us bogged down all week with work.

They are replaying the show. Ice-T and Snoop just did Colors. I was in middle school in suburban America when this stuff was current. We used to listen to it on no label dubbed cassettes and headphones so our parents didn't know what was going on. Sometimes we would actually mislabel the cassettes to throw them off. This stuff had gone so mainstream that our parents even knew who and what N.W.A. was!

Hip Hop Honors. This is NICE!

I would love that! I'll try to make it work! I know I won't be able to do lunch though.

Alright, well I'm back in KC. Overland Park actually. I'll be here until Friday morning. Again, I don't really know what my schedule is going to look like at night. I'd really like to get together with some of you, especially if there is any music happening in town. I'll be checking in here tomorrow with a better idea of what the nights are going to look like. I'm hoping we can find some time to get together this time around!

I love Peace, and you can't forget Andrew Cyrille's role on that recording! re: Ralph Towner, I have seen mention of an album of duets with Gary Burton called Matchbook. Many vibists consider this a classic. I haven't found much of Burton's ECM stuff to be my style, though I really like duet music, and I think it is obvious that I really like vibraphone music. Have you heard this Randy? I'd be interested in to hear what you think. SS, I'd say you chose "The Way I Feel" for a great reason. How did you go about contacting Mr. Patton?

I'd recommend finding a copy of Live at Club Baby Grand. Man, that is a WILD recording, even moreso than the Smalls sets, in my opinion. Less sound quality, but more distortion and tempo!

That's interesting you say that. People praise 'The Sublime and...' where I think it could have benefited from some serious editting. The tone blooms between Taborn and Ducret is what makes the good moments great. I haven't gotten much out of Berne's playing either, though I haven't seen him live. Who is Torn? What do you think of Ducret?

I've got the track jacket. So soft. It looks great too. American Apparel makes some good stuff. I also bought the women's UNITY t-shirt for my wife. Order up! This thing was tiny. We're going to have to return it for a large.

This is certainly potent stuff. I love the "LIVE" covers. -
Modern Rock - what do you like???

I'll look out for that one. I just got the new Fruit Bats disc. I love 'Echolocation' and can't wait to hear this one. Also found used copies of two Red Red Meat albums that I had never been able to find! I'm really looking forward to hearing 'Jimmywine Majestic'! Perishable Records... -
Robert Walter's 20th Congress is pretty funky.

I own a CD version of Delightfulee dated 1995. I don't think it is Collectors Choice.

Yeah, I meant to get back to this. I recognized many of the samples to have been used in things that Dr. Dre had produced. Can you add to that list the hip hop tracks that these samples were used in? I loved that Quasimoto track on the Bright Side disc, and actually thought some of the Dark Side tracks could have been included on the Bright Side disc as well. There is some pretty rough stuff out there. I had friends in high school and college that ate this stuff up. The most lyrically unique of this batch, in my opinion, was the Talib Kweli track. I think it would do a lot of people with an aversion to rapping to hear that track. I think rap means different things to a lot of people, but Kweli here shows that its just another form of communication.

I have a feeling the journal Forensic Science International is going to sell more copies of this issue than it ever has before. Do you think they'll do any fold-outs? Maybe an article on Woody Harrelson and a review of the latest Disco Biscuits show, plus a Q&A with Tom Robbins. Suddenly hydroponic mushroom kits are being sold in the back of the journal! -
Thanks for the info Marcello. It looks like both of the vibists are playing big heads. Do you know if Milt had his signature series back then, or do you think he was using Albrights? Milt is playing a Deagan Aurora. Can you tell what Masuda is playing? I'd love to hear this recording. I'll have to find myself a copy one of these days.

Why do you hate iTunes? I haven't had any issues with it. In fact, it seems so simple that everyone I've showed it to seems to pick it up immediately. And its free! I'm interested to hear your dismay.

Is this the two vibraphonists with Masuda's rhythm section? I've never seen this before.
