  1. I also really enjoy listening to an album called Piano Music of Philip Glass by Aleck Karis.
  2. In the past year, I have completely fallen in love with Harry Nilsson. After hearing Jeux D'eau for the first time this pat year, I have become obsessed.
  3. I'm going to have to try to track down a copy. I think the only thing I have from that series is Futuristic Sounds. In fact, at the time, I probably didn't realize it was a series at all. Relatively intelligent noodling... sometimes it just hits the spot!
  4. Has Perry Robinson's Funk Dumpling on Savoy ever been on CD? Looks like it has been issued on CD in Japan, but not the LP cover I remember. George Scala played this for me at his house 12 or so years ago. It is one of those albums that I have never stopped thinking about. The Fischer sounds right up my alley!
  5. Probably much more in tune with the Kid Rock with Symphony, didn't Metallica do something in the last ten years? I don't know if Kid Rock still does the rap rock thing, but here's aNother Detroit connection for you. Miguel Atwood Ferguson "Suite For Ma Dukes" The music of J Dilla with 40 piece orchestra Lots of YouTube there if interested.
  6. I never use the right shift key though. Has to be either/both?
  7. Maybe it's ctrl. It's something that accidentally happens on my work laptop often. Or Alt?
  8. I'be been thinking about it on and off today. Tough. Not like this. I'm not sure many folks could have such a deep connection as you describe here. This is special. I remember starting a thread (rare) years ago about albums that had a lasting impact on me. RRK Rip Rig & Panic/Please Don't You Cry..., Out To Lunch!, Walt Dickerson/Richard Davis... but your connection to Ziggy is something else.
  9. Great post Lon. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Thanks! Currently not available on Netflix streaming... though Anthem Of The Sun is!
  11. If sticky keys is what I think it is, hold down shift for five plus seconds. A message will pop up asking you if you want to enable/disable sticky keys.
  12. I love that Galbraith record. Gotta find that Thornell Schwartz!!
  13. That is exactly the direction I've been heading Rod. No Drobo yet, but I added a Vortexbox for ripping etc over the winter.
  14. I love his music. I also love the sentiment in your message there Chuck.
  15. Great stuff Quincy.
  16. He had a groove like no other. We saw Megafaun and Drive By Truckers last night. Megafaun did "No More Cane" during their set, then came on with Drive By Truckers for "The Weight" as the first song of a six song encore. I know "The Weight" has been done to death, but we all sang along and it just felt great to celebrate Levon that way. By the way, Joe Westerlund, drummer for Megafaun, sings and drums wonderfully. I believe he studied at Bennington if that tells you anything about his drumming. RIP.
  17. The argument that I have read is that this is not that much different from listening to an album. The experience is just as real, perhaps even more so, than the album.
  18. Maybe the book will go like Ken Burns' Jazz Allen. The last thirty years will get one chapter.
  19. Thanks for this thread guys. I hadn't listened to Anti-House in a while, and remembered really liking it. It is so long! Revisited today. I also spun Byzantine Monkey for the first time in a while!
  20. This has turned out to be an incredible thread, yet there is this nit: funny how betrayed Allen seems by someone that he never liked to begin with!
  21. Thus the tea! I knew I'd be skipping lunch.
  22. Frittata. Grilled potatoes, zucchini, and flat iron steak. Pecorino Romano and Cholula. Earl Grey. Watching Bubble Guppies.
  23. Thanks for the heads up on Dedication!
