  1. Not fear so much as awareness. You know?
  2. For me this is not about Bill Barton. It is about the possibility of Bill Barton. And the invisibility of it all. It isn't about forgiveness or harboring anger either. I leave that to y'all. I'm no saint, but I try my damnedest to do right.
  3. Jim, I had the same initial reaction and, like Lon, am afraid to really truly think about this whole thing. Chuck gave me the same advice that he gave you. As parents, we can't live in fear, but we must be on guard. Always. I know I have been hugging my daughter with just hint of a strange new emotion these past few days. It's not Bill that I am suddenly afraid of, but the unknown that I so naively thought I knew.
  4. Hans, do you have those? If not, based on your list they are a perfect recommendation.
  5. I'm with Lon. If you are generally on the look-out for Sun Ra albums in stores, definitely add the Horo label to your list.
  6. Seriously? I'm having a hard time with this. I don't even know what to say, but feel compelled for whatever reason to type. This board is a pretty tight community. Most of us have known, or have met one another at some point. It seemed that Bill was one of the folks that people knew. I'm just in shock. As the Internet goes, this is too close to home.
  7. I pulled out the 11/93 JGB Hampton show this afternoon just for the "Shining Star". Thanks for everything.
  8. I seem to remember him mentioning he would be out for a while. Hands? I believe he wished me a happy earth arrival on FB April 30th. I too hope he's ok.
  9. Missedthe thread first time around. I bought the Atavistic cd however many years back. Recommended for those inclined. Or reclined.
  10. Good call Cali! I thought "Compared to What?" and "Feel Like Making Love" were the tunes that bankrolled the rest of his life? He had a good one for sure! RIP
  11. It's not that out of date Dan... only a year! This is 100 year old scotch!
  12. I think what everyone is most interested in is tasting a 100 year old recipe that has been lost to time.
  13. Good grief. Hesher looks like awesome.
  14. http://soundcloud.com/ Lots of musicians share their music here. I didn't know big labels had jumped in though.
  15. Bradley Nowell was just over 27. Overdosed just before his band skyrocketed. Shannon Hoon was also just 28.
  16. It was supposed to be beer. I see now that it is just a square. Oh well. Congrats Jack!

  18. Very cool. A few aren't exactly faithful recreations, but I like it just the same!
  19. Alexander, are you kidding with that? You heard it here first? Here's a prediction: at some point I die.
  20. What about digipacks?
  21. I always thought a desert island disc was chosen on cover art and/or liner notes.
  22. What a vibe he had. RIP.
