  1. Noj beat me to the Betty Page answer...
  2. After watching Imagine The Sound via iTunes, I would love to see this documentary made available there as well. So easy.
  3. Thanks for that Les Baxter link TTK!
  4. Cool controller. I have a friend who plays keys and uses Ableton with his Rhodes/synth set-up. Lately, he has been exploring monome controllers. Lots of new devices and methods out there these days.
  5. He's going to kill you anyway. You just witnessed an execution style murder. This kind of thing doesn't end well, regardless of your taste in good music.
  6. My brother and I watched this together last night. What an amazing film! For both of us, it was like hearing Cecil Taylor for the first time somehow. Whoa. Beautiful! Everything about this film is top notch. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. New View, IMO, is a wonderful album.
  8. Not just the nickname... the address in Kent, WA and the name William Barton. An active uploader, according to the indictment, which lists dates. He very well could have been uploading this shit while reading org...
  9. infants. infants. dear lord. this is just depressing.
  10. I just realize that no one has mentioned The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra! On Savoy, reissued by Denon. This is a fantastic disc that feaures the wonderful variety that he and his band were capable of and some really great piano playing by Sonny. This would actually be a great starter album! Hell, it might even change your mind Leeway! Sounding damn good over here tonight!
  11. I had been eyeing the Sun Ra row in the closet for a few weeks now, but it wasn't until just now that I felt the need to get there. Supersonic Jazz to ease me back in. Man, such fine music. Thanks everyone for bringing him back into my orbit.
  12. ha! Perfect Shawn.
  13. Not my first chance at being aware, just my most recent. I'm cool. I'm just not an angry person. I've tried it before here and there. It sucked.
  14. Not fear so much as awareness. You know?
  15. For me this is not about Bill Barton. It is about the possibility of Bill Barton. And the invisibility of it all. It isn't about forgiveness or harboring anger either. I leave that to y'all. I'm no saint, but I try my damnedest to do right.
  16. Jim, I had the same initial reaction and, like Lon, am afraid to really truly think about this whole thing. Chuck gave me the same advice that he gave you. As parents, we can't live in fear, but we must be on guard. Always. I know I have been hugging my daughter with just hint of a strange new emotion these past few days. It's not Bill that I am suddenly afraid of, but the unknown that I so naively thought I knew.
  17. Hans, do you have those? If not, based on your list they are a perfect recommendation.
  18. I'm with Lon. If you are generally on the look-out for Sun Ra albums in stores, definitely add the Horo label to your list.
  19. Seriously? I'm having a hard time with this. I don't even know what to say, but feel compelled for whatever reason to type. This board is a pretty tight community. Most of us have known, or have met one another at some point. It seemed that Bill was one of the folks that people knew. I'm just in shock. As the Internet goes, this is too close to home.
  20. I pulled out the 11/93 JGB Hampton show this afternoon just for the "Shining Star". Thanks for everything.
  21. I seem to remember him mentioning he would be out for a while. Hands? I believe he wished me a happy earth arrival on FB April 30th. I too hope he's ok.
  22. Missedthe thread first time around. I bought the Atavistic cd however many years back. Recommended for those inclined. Or reclined.
