  2. Happy Birthday Lazaro! \ \\
  3. Is it tomorrow already? Happy Birthday Joe!!! I hope it is a great one.
  4. chewy chew chew's about to get crunchy crunch crunch!
  5. You can lead a fish to water, but you can't make it a horse.
  6. So I don't owe anyone an apology?
  7. That would be funny.
  8. It wasn't the indie rock douchebags. I did buy a Unity tshirt from ropeadope years ago. Girls small. Good thing I had a daughter.
  9. Damn. Looks like I made a terrible mistake. I feel like an idiot. Who do I apologize to in order to make this right? Myself? Webern? Your mom?
  10. For me, Tony Williams has never sounded better than he did during that Water Babies era. I'm not able to put my finger on what makes that music move differently, but it does. Splashdown and Dual Mr. have such an open boogaloo groove that is wide open for his drumming. It spilled into the other tracks as well. I hear Emergency! in his drumming on Splashdown especially. Shame Emergency! Wasn't recorded the way these sessions were!!!
  11. For me it was the 'nineties, but Water Babies has always been a special album for me. I actually never owned IASW until this box came out. My brother had it. Our collections sort of happened like that.
  12. I'll be in New Orleans in two weeks and hope to hit a shop or two while I'm there. Any particular recommendations for shops? Also, for those of you with a knowledge for NOLA history, any particular regional labels/artists that I should look for? Im particularly interested in learning more about the rock n roll and rhythm and blues records that were local to New Orleans. My friend's father in law, a retired editorial writer for the picayune, is a big listener who I'm sure will have some info, but I thought I'd ask the trusty organissimo brain trust.
  13. A recent friend of mine through the local record store is a DJ at a neighborhood bar. He was crazy about Nilsson. I haven't knowingly heard much of his music, and couldn't find a thread here. My impression/assumption is apparently very different from my friend's. What was his deal? Recommendations?
  14. Back when Organissimo was soliciting the forum for tunes to cover, I recommended "Ghetto Walk". There was going to be a covers album at some point. Oh well. I like "unedited-ish"! Ha.
  15. I thought it was cool to like some singers.
  16. Right Lon. They just continue to diffuse/dilute the brand. I have nothing against the music (Norah, Lebowski). Just trying to rationalize. EMI owns quite a few labels right?
  17. What is Blue Note's brand identity? I don't understand why this would go to BN.
  18. Emergency jazz collection kits.
