Why not record and release something new on Nessa? I'm sure Chuck would be very happy to do just that if you sent him a few thousand $$... I don't think Chuck will be very happy ever, with anything, but maybe as he and his company concentrate on nothing but re-issues, at the moment anyway, he should refrain from commenting when people choose to spend their time and money on other re-issues. Do you even know Chuck? I'm guessing not.

And another good job by the Stones at keeping Wyman out of the picture. For 'merkins Best Buy is selling the blu-ray for a penny under $10. I'll be replacing my mono bootleg fairly soon. 'merkins: buy local. have your local record shop order it for you.

Jimi Hendrix I know. Not jazz. Would have loved to have heard more from Walt Dickerson, a personal favorite. -
Majority CDs. Oddly enough, I find them to be more convenient than mp3 etc. Easier to browse. I have a Squeezebox, and while it can be great, I tend to go for the CD shelves before looking through the server for something to listen to. Great for on the fly playlists though, and parties.

...followed by depression, adultery, alcoholism, and trying to write that followup hit! Or you write the novel, it gets stolen and shopped by your ex/future wife's step-daughter who punched you once before you knew who, or how old she was.

Sounds like the change has been difficult for both of you and things just aren't going your way lately. Hang in there Kevin. You are still their Daddy and the holidays are just around the corner. Your girls will be home before you know it and the house will wake up to the bustle again! My brother and I are closer now to our parents than when we all lived under the same roof. It sounds like y'all are a tight-knit group. Your family is changing. Hopefully for the better. I'm sure they know how much you love them. Keep them in the loop on your health. It is important, and they are young adults now. Sorry about the dog. Same thing happened around the time my brother and I left for college. This post really hits home for me. My daughter is 14 months and I can imagine being in your shoes in the blink of an eye. Thanks for opening up Kevin. Things will turn around!

Beat Konducta Dil Cosby Suite is also pretty good. I like all of the Madlib mix tapes dedicated to J Dilla. This was an official release. I'd also submit Panda Bear "Person Pitch" as a great example of what hip-hop has bloomed. -

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related http://www.youtube.c...feature=related I don't know who can afford this book, but I've looked through it at book stores and it seems relevant and contemporary. http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/1584231971 -

This doesn't reveal anything about how Dilla's music sounds to those unfamiliar with J Dilla's music (because it is so low in the mix), but it does reveal how much his peers thought of him. If you are at all interested in hip-hop, and you have not yet listened to Donuts, this is your next move. Being turned on to Dilla almost turned me off of other hip-hop, Madlib and much of Stones Throw being the exception. Please bear in mind that I am not a hip-hop expert by any stretch and I have no hypotheses or theories on anything. I just think his music is beautiful. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=ZLVtAZQixOA http://www.youtube.c...feature=related -

Agreed - though there is indeed rap on Voodoo (the one track where Method Man and Redman guest, and although it's lewd it's also pretty awesome). The story of how Voodoo was made is cool - it sounds like D'Angelo eventually wrote and performed most of the material himself, but it came out of this sprawling marathon where he and Questlove and others would often just play whatever struck their fancy, old 70s soul covers, you name it. Would love to see a DVD showing some of the more interesting moments. Yeah. I forget about that track for some reason. Not to mention the invisible hand of Dilla. Have you heard this? -

Jazz will be just fine if people stop taking it so god damned seriously. Same with hip hop. Let it be. It is so much better that way. Anyone with doubts ought to listen to D'Angelo Voodoo in its entirety. Hip hop at it's finest and there is zero rap or turntablism. Then find Dwele. The new this or that. Dismiss it or accept it, but these folks talking about cop killing and misogyny shouldn't be involved in the conversation to begin with. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Someone with real knowledge on the subject, similar to some of y'all's knowledge on hard bop, wouldn't know where to begin with this discussion. Like a bunch of interior designers analyzing contemporary architecture. If you don't understand it, you make the decision to either try, or not. Simple. Just say so. -

Why do you burn your mp3s?

Haven't had any issues in a long while. It was terrible and I was browsing with Firefox for a while though. Yes. Find what works for you!

If you are using a recen Mac, and your OS is up to date, I highly recommend Safari. Otherwise, they are all neck and neck in my experience.

Technically, they're not radios at ALL. Or internets. Discus amongst yourselves.

ps These things are much more than internet radios.
