  1. Well, it seems that except for the Pearson, it took only a few minutes for all of these to sell out... there's no reason to hold this against Mosaic! I sent them a mail within a few minutes as well, I got a kind reply (as always) but I guess they were flooded with orders and mails and they being such a small company - two or three people? or just Cindy being at the office regularly? It's always she who answers my mail concerning orders, and she's always been perfectly polite and on several occasions extremely kind to me. You're right, Mosaic's not to blame and Cindy is doing a really great job. So did Anne Osso. Whatever happened to her? No idea. She did Cindy's job in the 90s (and maybe the early 00s).

  3. Not the ultimate, but the PENultimate I only have the US lp's and a few of the 22 year old cd's, so I sprung for the lot. This should do me for awhile.
  4. Ok, my bad. Your post is then a reaction to the paranoia and craziness taking place on the Hoffman Board regarding these remasters? Pretty entertaining stuff.
  5. Except he comes off as yet another "jazz" guy who blames the Beatles for the downfall of jazz
  6. Please Please Me in mono sounds like home!!!
  7. Ok, we get it! You don't like the Beatles or Rock 'n Roll. Fine, now go listen to some Sinatra.
  8. All the sideman appearances on Prestige (with the exception of the Miles sideman stuff) contained herein: http://www.kyushu-ns.ac.jp/~allan/Documents/JC_S.HTML
  9. Don't wait if you REALLY want the Mono Box Set ---- it's already sold out. But EMI just announced they are making more. They didn't say how many more, however.
  10. Sound was really good on the first two. I don't have the 16 cd monster set, so for me this is a no-brainer.
  11. For anyone still interested: http://www.amazon.com/Side-Steps-W-Book-24...9392&sr=1-1
  12. Crystal Silence + Duets + In Concert Zurich (including 2 solo pieces (1 each for Burton and Corea) not on original cd). This is probably not a necessary purchase for those who have those 3 cd's, unless you want the approx. 20 minutes of music on the double-live lp and NOT on the single cd.
  13. I've listened to Brewster's Rooster I think five times, and I like it more with each listen. Agree, I listened to the whole disc last night and its one of the years best releases. It swings, rocks with a little bit of free jazz in there. Great stuff. Different strokes, I guess. His soprano playing gives me the funny feeling that Kenny G is in the room on this one.
  14. see my first post - not sure about those +3 on "We Want Miles" and "Isle of Wight" (audio version) The 1970 Isle of Wight concert was tagged on to the end of this release (a 3 cd set comprised mostly of a 1988 concert at Munich Philharmonic Hall): http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:39foxqedld6e http://www.amazon.com/Munich-Concert-Miles...7735&sr=1-1 I've seen this boot, I think... how's the sound quality? And how's the 1988 concert? The sound quality is good, and the concert is certainly good enough to be worth the 10 bucks new on the Amazon Marketplace. I think I paid around $30 for it when it first came out, at Tower Records, the most over-priced store that used to exist in the bygone days! Thanks - will be looking for a cheap copy if there's not going to be a single disc Sony edition once the box is out. I pulled the Isle of Wight (from this cd set) out this morning. I don't want to get into the whole audiophile debate, but it sounds pretty good to these ears. I can't imagine Sony doing a much better job with it.
  15. Which reminds me of my Tower Sunset Boulevard acquisition of Tyrone Washington's 'Natural Essence' Toshiba for $18 + tax. I got mine at Tower in Greenwich Village at 4th and Broadway!!! Loved that place. Many current day musicians worked the jazz department. Duane Eubanks is one that comes to mind.
  16. They sure were by the end. The one here in King of Prussia was sticker pricing their stock at $1 above list price by the end! In the older days, they had great all-label sales in January and February, where I would stock up on releases from the year before, they had label sales on Blue Note at times during the year, and they had their in-house publication, Pulse magazine, which was free and an entertaining read. They did away with the magazine, did away with the sales, and basically went list-price plus on everything except stuff like the latest Britney Spears release. I went from spending $1000+ a year there to spending zero there for the last two-three-four years before they closed. I had no feelings about them going out of business, because they were gone for me years before that. I was a J&R fiend. It had great selection, and by far the lowest prices in NYC. I only went to Tower to buy Japanese imports, which J&R didn't like to stock because of their high prices.

  19. Ignorance is using the word "stupider" instead of the phrase "more stupid"!
  20. If you feel that way, why read it or even respond to it? Are you part of the forum's welcoming committee?
  21. Damn, I had forgetten what an ass Geraldo is. Funny stuff there! Especially the guy who said Michael Jackson will only die once. But is he STUPIDER than Geraldo, or just MORE STUPID?
  22. I must say.......I'm disappointed, yet not surprised!!!
  23. I happen to live in Westchester County, but wouldn't be caught dead reading that rag! The sports reporting has won more AP awards in the last three years than any other paper in NY. That may be so, but the Journal News is still a rag. Anyway, at least we know there will be a Michael Jackson week on Idol next year!!! Btw, MJ shared a birthday with Charlie Parker, Dinah Washington, Rebecca DeMornay and ..........ME!!! How does that make you all feel? ...indifference . Good for you! I was just trying to put all this nonsense in perspective for ya. Bird, someone we all worship, is just as flawed as MJ and has the same b'day!
  24. Also Quincy Jones, I heard Mark Ruffin say on Sirius today. NO. 3/14/33 according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincy_Jones
  25. No, but I haven't tried in almost 20 years. Fripp, baby, what an inventive guitarist............and yet another musician who is worshipped despite his being a prick by all accounts! He never had a ranch with a zoo. Probably why he's so pissed at the world
