  1. For clarity - it’s the Shepp CD I found. Still haven’t been in the loft... I was hoping it would be findable in the photo, but Flickr is too low-res, I now see.
  2. Oh! I found it! It was in a pile on my desk the whole time. Uh...Where's Wally?
  3. That one I don’t know. Yet.
  4. Some good stuff on Guitar as well.
  5. Actually, yes...
  6. I feel the same. Offensive and dim-witted. Cleverness for morons. Not like he didn’t know it though. Shut up ‘n’ play your guitar.
  7. Yes we are lucky to be able to access so much improv at the highest level. Shifts your perspective too. I really no longer see recordings as the ‘product’, just a way to check things out. And that’s as true for Brahms as well as Butcher.
  8. For clarification: I do have most though not all of the boxes. The ones I got most out of were those I was (up to that point) least invested in (Seven Steps, Jack Johnson). Maybe the one I got the least out of was the second quintet, which opens up with a resequenced ESP and tails off into quite a lot of stuff that doesn’t work that well.
  9. The resequencing of some of these famous and familiar albums (even dividing some across two sets, let alone across CDs in the same set) is wearing to say the least. I don’t care much for most Miles but did retain many of the legacy discs for this reason, as well as buy the mono box.
  10. Well those two are a high point for sure, and a big part of why I keep following Mat.
  11. Interesting. I’ve given the recordings time because I always have the feeling there could be more - and I’ve read your accounts of these concerts before - but even where there is some of that dry intensity (So What, for example) the overall is not quite there.
  12. The Chinese is literally ‘hat’, you probably realise... These posts got combined but are not related: Re. Maneri. I’ve heard this new one and a good few others. Dreary and samey, to me. I spent some time with the duo release with Ban on ECM and found little musically interesting, though we are lectured how Ban is up there with Bartok. He is not.
  13. I like the concept of never-before-on-LP releases.
  14. That’s what I thought.
  15. Looks like Outhere bought the label in good faith and then the owner has turned round and tried to shaft them. Can’t support that.
  16. thread on this always nice to have one of our old barracks room lawyer threads revived though
  17. Um... Perhaps weirdly, I had kept all the OBIs from the Conn series (not in a climate controlled cabinet), then on a whim threw away HALF of them. And kept the other half. Why?
  18. Worth it for the Andy Warhol cover!
  19. Some of my Mosaic jewel cases are a bit scuffed. Some of the inserts have kinks and fingerprints. I’m a bad bad man.
  20. Many or most of these are on Spotify.

  22. Thank you. Very informative!
  23. He still has a photo of genuine(-looking) Mosaic discs, though. Chancer.
