  1. My soundtrack for these days has changed. Now it’s Ravel and Debussy. Helps me see the remaining beauty in life.
  2. My soundtrack for these days is the Leningrad Symphony.
  3. Yeah! Or, since its opera, yah!
  4. I’m sold on the cover!
  5. Full set of the Pharoah Sanders. Not because I love them. I don’t even like them. But I still somehow wish I’d bought the set they did x years ago.
  6. I’ve got Anna Reid’s book on the siege of Leningrad lined up. Um. Anything to screen out the I-told-you-sos from preppers...
  7. For me, above all, it is his contributions to the famous studio version of MFT, and to the numerous recorded live versions, that are closest to me.
  8. I’m glad somebody said this. I also feel that there are many recorded Miles gigs where no-one is giving it 100% or anywhere close - some very meandering solos and sets.
  9. Those LPs will be popular!
  10. Meanwhile a fairly lifeless sequel to the original radio series has appeared on BBC Radio 4, findable on Sounds.
  11. Thanks for mentioning these MVCI titles (I wasn't aware of the German equivalents). The MVCIs I have are pretty fine and these days sometimes go for lesser amounts because of their age.
  12. Mustve streamed this 100 times, now here it is. Love it and record of 2019 for me.
  13. Yes to in-car cassette players! No to front loader CD players. Tedious to load and a driver distraction. Yes to the CD changer in the trunk - the kind where you can take out the holder and load it in the house.
  14. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1529126576/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1 The second volume - The Restaurant at the End of the Universe - might just be my favourite LP of all time!
  15. I’ve never properly worked out the discography of that line-up. Do you know of a simple list?
  16. https://www.philharmonia.co.uk/news/article/69/a_statement_as_vladimir_ashkenazy_announces_retirement still going strong when I saw him recently - I will miss him!
  17. Oh! Oh! Oh!
  18. I should have said maybe that while the boombox gives you an idea of the music, the sound itself is somewhat retro. The Soundlink, by contrast, is musical and involving - quite amazingly so. And the boombox only cost me £44...
  19. What fresh hell is this!? Actually I quite fancy it...
  20. The boom box I bought sounds ok, quite musical for anything less than a full orchestra. Vocals come across well. The main advantage is the mobility, though it gets a bit lost in larger spaces. I also use a Bose Soundlink which sounds just fine for what it is, better than the boom box by a margin. P
  21. europadisc.co.uk have monthly listings
  22. Sorry to hear that. RIP.
