  1. The Giant is Awakened. It would indeed be nice to have by itself, but it does appear in whole on West Coast Hot along with one of the Carter/Bradford Flying Dutchmans, which is shorn one track. Magnificent album(s).
  2. Good thing so many of us jumped on the deal on this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001GAQP2K/ref=sr_1_183_olp?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1301056076&sr=1-183&condition=new
  3. Really any of those Dutch Fontana avant-garde titles-- Carla Bley, Archie Shepp, New York Contemporary Five, Dollar Brand ...
  4. Probably not. I'm guessing this is an academic pressing and there are often huge differences in pricing between the hardcover and softcover, both being quite expensive. In addition, it looks like the softcover is being remaindered.
  5. No worries, now, form an orderly queue, there are four (4) copies: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mosaic-Select-Onzy-Matthews-Onzy-Matthews-CD-J-/310300235390?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item483f55d67e#ht_660wt_903
  6. Topology is slated for reissue, but not Linear B. I plan to one day own all of McPhee's Hats with Boni & Jaume, but it will be a long and rather expensive project indeed. Amazing music, that.
  7. The kind of thing that just makes your heart drop-- beat up copies for sure, but at that price .... http://completed.shop.ebay.com/flamjo/m.html?_nkw=mosaic&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3911.c0.m283&_rdc=1
  8. Yes, also released on CD by Jass:
  9. Speaking of which, is there anyone who can point me in the direction of an affordable (in print?) version of the Carnegie Hall, Christmas 1949 show? Or am I just going to have to keep digging?
  10. It can be had handily for list price or better on Ebay.
  11. Anybody who doesn't have the Green needs it. As noted before, it runs very cheap on Amazon. Cheapest of all of the Selects almost, which is kind of a shame.
  12. I bought this secondhand and it did not contain a booklet. I was wondering if anyone would be able to send me a photocopy or scan. I could compensate with a spare CD or some such.
  13. I like the Penguin because it presents a personal vision of the music. There is no such thing as objectivity in the criticism of art, and I dislike anything that approaches it from that vantage point.
  14. I don't own the Berry, but judging by your taste, you will definitely enjoy it. If I could only get 3 of the in-print sets that I don't have, this would certainly be one.

    Anthony Braxton

It seems that this operation is being run by some younger folks who work in Braxton ensembles. I admire and commend their dedication to getting something like this done.

It's also a reference to his current working large ensemble, the 12+1tet.

    Got this email today:
  18. Interesting. I was just looking at Mosaic Brochure #5 from I believe 1988 and among the future projects they mentioned (Shorty Rogers, Cecil Taylor, the Commodores, Ike Quebec) were two that never came to fruition: a Wardell Gray set and a Coleman Hawkins.
  19. Mulligan Select Disc 3, the Vinnie Burke String Quartet Material. Great stuff.
  20. "The Sheepherder" on The Jimmy Giuffre Clarinet: Jimmy Giuffre, clarinet Buddy Collette, alto clarinet Harry Klee, bass clarinet
  21. Mine too. What a harrowing ordeal
  22. Just grabbed the whole set off ebay for $25. I have some of the music of course, but these look like they'll make for fine listening and will look pretty good on the shelf, too!
  23. I finally sent an email asking about the package. They said they'd get back to me on Monday.
  24. Indeed. I might even suggest supplementing it w/ this: http://www.amazon.com/Musical-Romance-Billie-Holiday/dp/B0026OIBOU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1298742065&sr=8-4 Material from the box, but very nice to have on its own (cheap, too).
