Vague, perhahps, but I'm wondering if anyone could direct my attention to more recordings from this era. I'm thinking particularly of things like Stan Getz's Roost recordings, Sonny Stitt's early Prestige material, Gene Ammons' Young Jug etc. Lo-fi, 2-3 minute small group jazz from the late 40s/early 50s that bridges the gap from bop to hard bop or mainstream. There's just something so perfect about this approach to me ... I can't get enough.
