  1. The boxes are also just a glossy photo pasted on a box, not embossed like earlier versions. And the prices are little better than secondhand. Thumbs down.
  2. To think of the obvious bond shared by him and Bruce makes this all the more sad. RIP indeed.
  3. Mr. Braxton is known to be a voracious record buyer and listener. I find him to be especially conversant in jazz records, which many musicians aren't always (in jazz and beyond).
  4. Sonny Clark w/ Ike Quebec, "Deep In A Dream" off Leapin' & Lopin' which I listened to for the first time. Exceptional, like everything Ike did at the time.
  5. The Bennik/Doran/Anderson and One Great Day are out. I stumbled on this bit from a Ken Peplowski blindfold test that's got me very excited to hear the Carter-Bradford that will be out in the next batch:
  6. Geez, they need to stop! I'll never catch up ...
  7. Verve indeed. I handled a copy once (didn't buy it-- stupid) and I remember it being thick, glossy and gatefold, very Impulse!
  8. Huh, I did not realize that. Very Impulse!-like in appearance.
  9. Oliver Nelson Full Nelson/Sound Pieces would have been cool. The 70s Marion Browns? A couple of the later Keith Jarretts? Sam Rivers? Max Roach? Dewey Redman? Many missed opportunities here, seems to me.
  10. Much talk about the Quinchette session these last couple days, so: Disc 3.
  11. When it comes to Cecil, what is "open" anyways?. But I don't think it's any secret or speculative in any way. I did not know about Fats Navarro. That's interesting. There is also Chris Connor.
  12. Cecil Taylor, of course.
  13. PM on Argharta & Pangea.
  14. My absolute #1 pet peeve is that disjunction between pictures on the album jacket and the time period represented on the record. Seems like this was almost exclusively perpetrated during the 1970s (i.e. Miles Davis Prestige two-fers).
  15. No, the only one of theirs not to.
  16. Very cool!
  17. Agreed ... just not how I would do it. I will, however, get the Elvin Jones.
  18. Disc 3, Tal For the rarity of the material as well as its incredible quality, surely this is among the most indispensable Mosaics.
  19. Bump. I'm open to trade for any big box I don't already have.
  20. Looking to trade this for another Mosaic. Like I said, all sealed (by outer box) & in mint condition. I am interested in the following sets which I feel would make for a fair trade: HRS Sessions Tristano/Konitz/Marsh Buck Clayton Gene Krupa/Harry James Condon Mob Roy Eldridge Buddy DeFranco/Sonny Clark Classic Capitol Jazz (a tad uneven, I know, but maybe you just really don't care for it) PM me if you're interested or have another suggestion-- I'm fairly open.
  21. Strange, I just scored a sealed copy of #163 The Complete Capitol Studio Recordings of Stan Kenton 1943-47 through Amazon for $71.99.
