  1. I haven't heard Lorrach in particular, but I love the 1966 European Tour material on Holy Ghost. I think the band has a great sound with Michael Sampson on board. Hopefully the touted reissue/expansion of this record will be out in the next couple batches of hatOLOGY discs.
  2. Indeed. A one of a kind musician.

I took the plunge and pre-ordered Trillium E from TCO. Looks like a handsome package:
  4. I have the Jones on LP and adore it. If you like swing, you will too. I have considered upgrading to the CD and likely will now.
  5. Liebman/Beirach sold. These are the remaining titles offered shipped for the price listed, or for trade.
  6. Honestly after looking over the choices I don't know if there is a fifth to stand directly alongside those four. But if you twisted my arm, I'd vote Shorter: the most distinct without being overly idiosyncratic. I think he did create a whole mood and approach to the tenor and to improvisation in general that has been a significant element in jazz since.

Would love to be able to read that article. Any tips?
  8. Unless there's a taker I'm gonna move Duke Pearson over to eBay. As for the other Selects I would be open to a trade. Some comparable sets I'd trade for; Andrew Hill Mosaic Select 23 Complete Ella & Louis on Verve Monk Complete Prestige Miles Davis Blackhawk Black Saint/Soul Note (except Murray or Pieranunzi-- especially looking for Dixon, Taylor, Threadgill, Lacy, Konitz or Braxton)
  9. I'll check it out, too. I loved Emergence, Roy Hargrove's big band album.
  10. I flap my gums about this band all the time, but I really do think this is one of the premier jazz albums of the 1980s. One of my favorite ever.
  11. I think he has a point, but in this case I think quibbling over one take of the song when you have a million already on there seems foolish. That's worded confusingly perhaps. What I mean is I think he's right most of the time, but you're right in this instance.
  12. I have it on the Blue Note box set. Sounds ok to me.
  13. Put in for the Roscoe. Will have to save Von for later.
  14. PM on School Days
  15. One last bump, down to $25 shipped. It's a fantastic session, btw. Jimmy intended to make the date on piano but switched to organ at the last minute. It is some of his best playing, very pianistic and melodic.
  16. And as of this morning, out!
  17. One last bump. Price stated is what you pay, shipping included.
  18. Bump. Down to $30.

You won't be disappointed. I'm in the opposite boat as you, having not heard SG, but Time Will Tell is marvelous.
  20. Any reason not to be OK with the 80s edition?
  21. Again, no Obi. $35 shipped in the US. International shipping available.
  22. Wow, this trend just keeps getting better. Thumbs way up. Hm, limiting it to the studio albums seems a but silly, though. And I see it omits The Riddle.
  23. Sold!
  24. Let's just call it $50 even.
