  1. NOOOOOOO! Turns out the Pullen was sold in-store before I placed my online order. $100+ it is ...
  2. I was unable to download track 9, but I'll try again later.
  3. Yes, I ordered the Ayler set from them in February and it took nearly a month to arrive. It is a shoestring operation, and I'm grateful that someone has taken it upon themselves to do the mailorder for what I'm sure it little or no compensation. Patience indeed.
  4. No, I suppose I'm not being entirely true to the thread's title. I got it from Reckless Records in Chicago. Just about the only major metropolitan record store I know that posts its used inventory online for purchase. They generally deal in rock, so they undervalue any jazz that's not Miles or Trane. I've scored several great deals on other Mosaics and OOP items in the past, so I check up regularly.
  5. Just scored the Don Pullen Mosaic for a cool $34. Feeling pretty good!
  6. Agreed. I like the album, but the sound is unbearably cheesy to me ... that horrid muted drum sound they loved so much in the 70s and 80s.
  7. Any thoughts on The Jackie Mac Attack Live! (or some such) from 1991 on Verve? Looks promising.
  8. Buy it if only to re-sell it!
  9. Sign me up as well! edit: I will download.
  10. Below is a picture of the Miles box. The discs themselves are in thin cardboard slipcases, just like the Original Album Classics series and the recent Black Saint/Soul Note sets. They are exactly the same as the old OJCs. No new remastering, no new alternates, no new notes. I will be getting the set as a) I like this style of packaging and b) I don't really have $250+ to drop on the old Riverside box.
  11. I mean, I know this don't go cheap, but this seems a bit much ... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rahsaan-Complete-Mercury-Recordings-Roland-Kirk-Box-Rahsaan-Roland-Kirk-CD-1990-/341637206837?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4f8b2a1335 Seems especially greedy, as they have so many copies
  12. Does anyone have a list of the volumes included in the Essential Keynote Collection?
  13. Really, I don't think there's much else to know. It is a box set released by Universal Europe (which is an umbrella company that holds Concord, and thus Riverside/Prestige/Contemporary/etc.) that contains all of Monk's Riverside albums in repro slipcases with few or no bonus tracks and no additional notes a la the Original Album Classics series. Not for everyone, but it's a style of presentation I enjoy.
  14. Agreed. I had to Google it to make sure it wasn't called Sphere.
  15. 'Phantom' here just refers to Phantom Import Distribution, which is all that it is.
  16. Well, here is a link from Universal Europe itself, same as with the All Miles box set: http://www.universalmusic.it/jazz/album/?ida=306475&PHPSESSID=73b9b52f0b593184c5f5592b220539f8 Seems legit to me.
  17. Yet it happens all the time, especially with imports.
  18. They did one of these for Miles' Prestige recordings http://www.amazon.com/All-Miles-Prestige-Albums-Davis/dp/B0035KGWRC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1279566802&sr=1-1 This one, however, interests me greatly! I have held off on buying many Monk Riversides 'cause I want the old box set, which of course, is not cheap.
  19. Yeah, I suppose I meant in general. Thanks for the heads up.
  20. Yep, same on Amazon. On some less obscure things they get wise and price it as an album, but on a lot of jazz records they charge by the track, which can end up being very little.
  21. I passed the Quebec/Hardee up a couple months ago for $20. I don't think I'll ever stop kicking myself for that. Stupid, stupid.
  22. I'll have to check this out. I have an Atlantic sampler which includes "Daphne" and it's wonderful.
