It was a great performance.

CD just showed up today, I'm looking forward to it. May have listened to the initial digital once or twice but don't remember it. A friend had talked with MGJ at that time about getting this out physically; that petered out but I'm glad someone else stepped in.

Booker T. actually has a new recording out. Gave this a couple listens on streaming, and it's much stronger than I might've assumed. Great stuff. I'll pick up the CDs soon.

I thought Run The Gauntlet was incredible. One of the more thrilling CDs I've heard in recent years, and really rewards relistening. I've also always liked her early trio albums, particularly Good Citizen on FSNT.

I would say the Blue Shroud Band music is essential listening-- 2 box sets and 2 standard albums. The small group breakouts on the box sets are all lively and fantastic, but above all I would say the initial Intakt release from 2016 is among the great albums of the 21st century. For this project he expanded the ranks with some newer, younger players, including some with classical backgrounds. The blend they manage to achieve is the truest basic third stream expression I've heard. Just really remarkable. The other titles mjazzg noted are all quite enjoyable. Plays is especially phenomenal. Others I might mention: -2 duos with Jordana Milla on Fundacja Słuchaj and ECM; the latter is my pick of the two -the 2xCD trio recording Bosque de niebla (also on Fundacja Słuchaj) with Agusti Fernandez and Lucia Martinez

Nice! Definitely was planning to get the CD version of Maeght, but that sweetens the deal. Would be nice to get a remaster/reissue of Gato's Obsession, a genuinely free session from Milan in '67 that has only seen release on Affinity with one of their absolutely hideous sleeves.

The 2 additional takes were not issued until 1990, I believe. This likely presents copyright problems (ironic, I know).

Is does strike me as only scarcely possible. For one, it's unclear how he would be in someone like Kenny Dorham's orbit at that time, and it's just in the timeframe of his last recordings for several years. Guess we'll see what kind of documentation they have to support it. (I also think it would be immediately evident if it was him playing)

Very intrigued by Denis Charles on that Dorham set.

Fully agree. I would love to see the enter COTW discography in a CD box set with good notation. Wouldn't end up being that large, maybe 5-6 discs.

Don't sleep on these if you want them. I didn't manage to get a copy of the Lyons and it looks like it's not really around anymore. I can survive, I have pretty much all the free jazz titles save a couple. I would be very interested in the Frank Wright on CD though.

Filles is a favorite. Miles in The Sky is the one that never really held together for me.

It adds most of the tracks from the second Revelation LP. They removed two solo bass tracks, so if you're a fan of Chuck Domanico's playing on there it's worth tracking the original vinyl down.

Sun Song and Sound of Joy on Delmark CD. both possibly out of print technically, but not hard to find, and not expensive.

I get the sense from the release that the sampler is just a teaser and not indicative of future releases being digital-only.

This seems very promising. So far SE reissues have been mostly vinyl-only or from P-Vine, and absurdly expensive either way. Mack Ave does CDs, and very affordable ones to boot.
