  1. Actually the whole LP is on disc V (just looked)
  2. the only likely possibility IMHO would be a TOCJ release like "Heaven On Earth" in 2010
  3. Thanks for all of the above information I knew that Jack/Hazel had wound down Cadillac Distribution but still had a modified website -> looks like that has folded too (I'm sure I accessed the site not too long ago) Amazon UK has the latest Ogun release on special at present (9.10 pounds)
  4. oink, oink got 7 CD's from them last week - enjoying them all right now (Evan Parker, Dizzy Reece, Steve Lacy, Dyani/Waldron, Pepper Adams, Sam Rivers, Jaki Byard) I'm wondering if any of the OOP CD's will be repressed? - I'm particularly after the Billy Harper one I made mention to the OOP CD's in my order but Gerard did not reply to that
  5. Ogun has just released a new Blue Notes CD "Before The Wind Changes" (live Waregem 1979) BTW the Ogun/Cadillac Distribution website does not appear to be functioning - all of the URL's I've tried are unsuccessful
  6. Have you had any luck - I'm in the same boat (would like both VeeJay Mosaics) - they tend to go for decent prices & weren't around for long (did the licences expire prematurely - thought I read that on a previous thread) Were released when the Australian dollar was at the bottom of the barrel (45c) so Mosaics at that time for me were prohibitively expensive - different situation now (Aussie $ past parity & sitting on 1.07 at present) - good time to buy if you live in Australia. A commodity based currency & we have a resources boom here at present (China wants our raw materials).
  7. That's Tony W. sure was Anton Webern!!
  8. The acts were The Remains, Heeb, Cyrkle, and the Ronettes. Pretty solid bill! The Remains - now that would have been a band on my want to see list
  9. same here Dear Stephen, today we will send by priority mail the Box Set of David Murray BXS 1010 without mistakes. Sorry for delay. Best Regards Simone looks like they mean business - good on em!
  10. Here's my first contribution
  11. hint - think pothead pixies Is that a Gong reference? indeed! that's Gilli Smith (Shakti Yoni) Did we ever determine who this is? Nope - and here's another couple of clues. He and his co-leader had their first hits in the 60s (when they were a bit more 'psychadelic') and have been charting pretty well every decade since with their 2 or 3 chord ditties. looks like Rick Parfitt from Status Quo
  12. And let's not forget the Velvet Underground I think he produced the first three LP's, including the "Banana" cover, even though that's been credited to Andy Warhol (he had very little to do with the production)
  13. The last year has been good for Les Pretty Lady has also just been released as a TOCJ CD (Dec last year); Also Sings (with Gerald Wilson) was released (TOCJ again) earlier last year Fresh Sound have also released "The Shout" & "The Truth" recently with extra titles from the sessions Just Don't know about the Fresh Sounds - good sound & liner notes (Jordi has come up with new/revised recording dates for a few of these sessions - wonder where he is getting his info from? - some of it seems to make sense) Does he have access to PJ tapes?? - I know he has an interest in West Coast Jazz & was able to access a the Hollywood Nocturne material legitimately, some of it unreleased (even more than the Mosaic Select PJ Trios box could offer)
  14. Just downloaded the latest jazz offering from Wolfgang's Vault Johnny Coles/George Coleman Quintet at Newport 65 (35 mins) - the extra treat is Toshiko Akiyoshi on ivories They do a great version of Little Johnny C (actually promote JC's new BN LP at the start of the concert)
  15. That's what I was leaning toward (contains contributions by Sonny Criss & Willie Smith) Also a big for The MJQ set - sound quality is superb
  16. I can remember a copy of the Lalo Schifrin CD sitting in a shop (primarily Rock/Punk/Alternative) for 5-6 years here in Brisbane; I think it was still part of the stock when the shop eventually shut down (never sold). Don't think it was frequented by Jazz afficonados that often.
  17. Gonna go for the Cohn/Newman select plus one of the following Buddy Rich (running low) or Louis Armstrong or Benny Goodman or Oliver Nelson (this looks a bit piecemeal) any words of wisdom from the board?
  18. Burt Covers Bud (Bud Powell) Cover to Cover (Vandermark 5) Cover (Henry Threadgill) Run for Cover (Bob Marley) No Cover, No Minimum (Bill Evans) next up: SENTIMENTAL
  19. Indeed - that is what Jim is wading his way through
  20. Any chance of images, if you have them
  21. Hang Tough (Joe Pass) Let It All Hang Out (The Hombres) Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most (Stanley Turrentine) Hangover Triangle (Herbie Nichols) Hang Jean Lee (Ed Kuepper) next: HOBO
  22. Autumn Landscape (Chico Hamilton) Autumn Nocturne (Art Farmer) Early Autumn (Ellington) Autumn Leaves (lots of covers - I'll choose Paul Desmond) T'is Autumn (Nat King Cole) next choice WOODY
  23. Diverging from the Water label & strictly not a Blue Note (recorded & originally released on French Vogue) The Wade Legge 10" (New Faces- New Sounds: Wade Legge Trio 5031) was first released in 2006 on the UK Giant Steps label (Dizzy Gillespie double CD "Dizzy Digs Paris") - don't think this has had a CD release previously I suspect this is a needle drop unless Giant Steps has access to the Vogue tapes? Anyone know if the Fats Sadi 10" (The Swinging Fats Sadi 5061) has ever been available on CD - I'm surprised it's never been released in France - great lineup!
  24. OK ORANGE it is just gone through the whole list & orange has been done!! Next choice is TORNADO
