Any love out there for Charles Brackeen? Hasn't recorded for a while now - is he still active? Would love to get my hands on a copy (CD preferably) of Rhythm X (Strata East) - was released in Japan (Bomba) in the early/mid 90's & also through Strata East (when?) - I never see it second hand Jonathan Horwich should reissue this on his International Phonograph label - maybe I should add this to that thread (if I can find it again) Just ordered some CD's from Nobusiness Records (Lithuania) - I mentioned Brackeen in my email & this was the reply from Danas Mikalilionis "I am planing to release Evan Parker trio next March, also will be putting out a double CD and vinyl of Melodic Art-Tet where Charles Brackeen played together with Ahmed Abdullah back in 70s. He has recently been discovered by his fellow musicians, so who knows, maybe he'll start playing again" Has the Melodic Art-Tet been previously released on vinyl or will this be a first?

I have 6 or 7 cd's. I don't think the set with Pat Metheny was released. The Montreal Tapes - 6CD set (released 2009 by Universal France) Picked it up via Ebay a couple of years back (was much cheaper then) Indeed, the Metheny set was not included here Best prices now are via Amazon France or Canada

Flurin I presume that's the Black Lion session (Jan 65) It's been rereleased on the budget Jazz Colours label (subsidiary of Black Lion?) 2CD's worth (approx 20 titles) - had these on my wants list for a while

I'm going through a BW phase at present - listening to quite a bit of his material (Emarcy double & lots of his verve material) Any recommendations re this 8CD set covering the mid 60's to the early 70's - european & some NYC material Also, his Circle recordings from the mid 40's are on a Progressive CD -> looks interesting but is it worth getting?

I bought the vinyl when these sets came out in the mid/late 80's (7 double LP's) - fantastic music but the sound wasn't the greatest but hopefully there may have been an improvement on the CDs

totally agree A small amount of this has been released on the audio CD that comes with Steven Isoardi's text "The Dark Tree - Jazz & The Community Arts in Los Angeles" I presume that's where the material for this CD came from?

Jonathan Are you having second thoughts re the Tapscott reissue or am I misinterpreting "and the Giant Awakens probably" I'm currently reading Horace's biography "Songs Of The Unsung" & he mentions (p 115) an unreleased/unfinished album "We recorded The Giant Is Awakened and part of another album that I never finished" - wonder if those tapes are extant or were they erased Would be nice if they could be added to the original LP if they do still exist

Ah, thanks! Perhaps Dad is a bit fuzzy on this. Chuck, what if anything protected the old 10 inch LPs? I never see a paper or plastic sleeve in those, or the really old 45's.... 10" LP's in Australia were housed in plastic sleeves (well the few I have are)

Just thought i'd revive this thread Has anything of significance transpired over the past 5 years regarding the Mythic Sound (plus unreleased) material - was it ever released as a box set (CD or LP) rather than individual CD's or LP's I presume the Paudras recordings are still with the Powell Estate
