  1. Shawn many thanks have tried this but keep getting a message "you cannot use this extension on this board" after step 4 ie http://www.jazzloft.com/p-36709-the-complete-trio-and-quartet-studio-recordings.aspx Looks like I've sorted it
  2. OK they've all been released on CD in some form I suppose I was referring to US Columbia/Sony releases (especially the 2000's legacy remasters)
  3. How do you get pictures/images (CD/LP covers etc) into the discussions When I try they are always miniscule or end up being a link to the pic any hints
  4. Dexter Gordon Steeplechase Trio/Quartet Box
  5. The design of the box/booklet/slipcases looks very much like the Sony "Pop Market" releases - all of the music info is in the booklet - the detail on the disc sleeves is miniscule (you need to be astigmatism free to read these - I even have trouble with glasses) Based on the design, I doubt whether these will be released individually unless the covers/sleeve info are redone.
  6. OK, down to two now (Drum & Indigos)
  7. Found more details re the Ellington set Go to Amazon (US) Box Set Includes: 1. 1951 -- Masterpieces By Ellington 2. 1952 -- Ellington Uptown 3. 1956 -- Blue Rose w/ Rosemary Clooney 4. 1956 -- The Drum Is A Woman 5. 1957 -- Such Sweet Thunder 6. 1957 -- Ellington Indigos 7. 1958 -- Black, Brown And Beige w/ Mahalia Jackson 8. 1958 -- Duke Ellington At The Bal Masque 9. 1958 -- Duke Ellington's Spacemen: The Cosmic Scene there's a pic of the box & individual discs/covers & open booklet -> if you zoom in on the booklet there are details re Ellington Indigos (the "Perfumed Suite" is included as a bonus on this disc) This is looking good!!! Don't think the following four have been previously released on CD - Blue Rose, Drum Is A Woman, Ellington Indigos (with Perfumed Suite), Bal Masque
  8. A farewell to another of the masters

OMG!! A new Joe Harriott twofer "Movement" (1964) & "High Spirits" (1965) - remastered from the original stereo tapes & claiming to be the first stereo issues of both these sessions - made my day
  10. Unfortunately I cannot download it - there is no download function on the page Have emailed them - wait & see (currently a WVIP member) Anyone else been able to download this? I record their streams into FLAC while playing with Ripcorder Audio. Works pretty well for me. here's the response I got from WV Hi Stephen, Right now, this Miles Davis, Newport 1967 concert is only available for streaming. We are doing our best to make as much available as we can, taking into account the need to establish all proper agreements, rights and permissions from artists before doing so. If you click on the link below, you'll see an download icon on the concerts that are available for purchase: http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/miles-davis/ Thanks, Evan

  12. Remember that series well - even bought the book that mirrored it (& still have it) He almost didn't make it in 1999 after his horrific car accident in Northern Australia - a lot of recuperation was required after that I'll miss him
  13. I have a few times but I'm trying to track down the original Daagnim CDs, not CDRs that are available from the site I have a few of his CDRs (eary Daagnim LPs) & a couple are faulty/distorted
  14. The UK sites are even better (Rarewaves & Zoverstocks) for us in Australia Monk - 13.49 & 13.51 pounds Mingus - 22.84 & 22.86 pounds
  15. Going through a DG phase at present Was wondering if anyone has DG Daagnim CDs they would like to part with Already have Nile River Suite (09) & Home (06) He has a terrific website with lots of digital (& the occasional analogue) goodies You can still pick up Daagnim vinyl - have a couple of his early LP's en route to Australia
  16. Start here: I'll second that. But don't stop there! I highly recommend all of his recent "Pi" recordings
  17. 1-0QA+19, Duet, Colors In Thirty-Third, Family Talk, Song For All Muhal was at the top of my list (with Julius) so I'm overjoyed I was afraid they wouldn't do a full Abrams set - looks like these are mostly large group/orchestra sessions
  18. CDs arrived - all in lovely condition thanks again
  19. spelt wrong (again) & he's not in the picture!!
  20. Just been informed by Mosaic (Fred) that the Mingus set won't be released till mid October Looks like my big order (Goodman, Hawkins & Mingus) won't come till November now!!
  21. RIP Larance - he had such a standout name Didn't realise I had so much material containing his drumming
  22. There are 8 titles (7 live - some edited, 1 studio) on the Columbia LP (2416/9216) I don't think the Columbia "Misterioso" has ever had a US CD release possibly all 8 titles have been released on US CD's Honeysuckle Rose was released on the triple CD box "The Columbia Years" That just leaves "Well You Needn't" - quartet live at Brandeis Uni (Feb 27, 1965) -> lots of unreleased tracks from this concert (I'm surprised Sony has never released the lot) That may also be in the 3CD box - there is a version of this track on Disc 3 but I don't own this set & don't have more details - can anyone check? The "Misterioso" CD is now included in the Euro/UK Monk set "Original Album Classics, Vol 2" - 5CDs - Misterioso/Live in Tokyo (2CD's)/Monk/Monk's Blues This refers to the Riverside "Misterioso" - we're discussing the Columbia one
  23. just got an email from Hazel & my copy was shipped yesterday (will take a week plus to get to the Antipodean shores)
  24. Just received an email from Hazel Miller (Ogun) - she attended Lol's funeral today Very sad day for her
  25. Can't find any reference (Lord Discography, jazzdisco) to SG performing Steeplechase (even Easy Swing) - maybe the title is wrong?
