You rarely see this set coming up for resale nowdays.

At the passages that you mention, I hear the bass being plucked very insistently. Could that be what you are hearing? Bertrand. Amazon replaced the set & the new discs did not have any of the above "anomalies" - it was a faulty disc

That's good that they're being shipped out - I emailed Michael over a week ago about the status of the boxes & he hasn't yet replied (normally he's very prompt)

I won one of Brian's CD's earlier this year (90's Gambrell Pacific Jazz TOCJ) - arrived promptly & was in beautiful condition

I've also ordered the Braxton Yoshi 4 double sets, Vysniauskas & Evan Parker, Sun Ra & Cecil Taylor "stragglers" - ones I've passed over in the past I would highly recommend the 4CD GYONJ sets, especially Vol. 4 (if you are a Ganelin Trio fan) - contains a wide variety of their projects, released & unreleased Any advice on other Braxton's on the list - will probably go for Comp #96 (169) & Comps #175/126 (453/454)

makes sense as the Erroll Garner release "Cocktail Time" (50216) is a Dial 10" (205) although the DG 10" (204) is just called Dexter Gordon & "The Chase" was not included on the original LP!! "The Chase" was actually included on a Various Artists 10" (211) called Mr Saxophone

I believe that all TOCJ's are EMI owned recordings. None of the ones you mention qualify. Unless they struck a licensing deal with Spotlite (UK), the label that owns Dial. this is odd as the only Gordon material qualifying as an EMI/TOCJ release would be his Blue Note material & possibly the Bethlehem session (Daddy Plays The Horn - has been released as a TOCJ CD)

TOCJ 50217 Gordon,Dexter(ts)/The Chase 999 wondering if this is going to be the Decca Gordon/Gray - Chase/Steeplechase or a Dial compilation? Hoping it's the former - have been waiting for this one for a while (big Wardell fan) - the last Japanese pressing of this was out of my price range
