    James Moody

It's been shipped by priority mail to Whitehall, MI. A small package of value will come to you, shortly.
  2. That was her sister, you assclown. 'Linda Hellerman'? Isn't that supposed to be Lillian Hellman? Lynn may have had some controversial statements as well, but I stand by my post. Bertrand.
  3. And to the politics forum we go - amazed it took this long. Even Beri knows when to behave. We're talking about someone who died. Bertrand.
  4. That explains why tracks 1/2 and 3/4 sort of blend into each other. Bertrand.
  5. Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FL0DEQ/ref=sr_1_album_1_rd?ie=UTF8&child=B001FL8712&qid=1272814288&sr=1-1 (I found it by searching for 'Mutants On The Beach'). Not sure how to link to iTunes, but I found it by searching for VSOP. Bertrand.
  6. (If there is already an old thread on this topic, I apologize). Although they will never replace CDs, occasionally iTunes and Amazon (and others?) have some items available for download that will probably never come out on CD or did in the past but are now OOP. With the state of the industry these days, more obscure things are less and less likely to make it to physical CDs. So I thought we could reconcile all these into one thread (similar to the Newbury bargain thread). First up: V.S.O.P. (Five Stars) iTunes/Amazon $3.99 A short studio album recorded by the quintet while they were touring in Japan. I saw this once as part of a 2-CD Japanese import but at a prohibitive price. I'm not sure how this could fit as bonus cuts on a live session, so this will probably never come out on its own. Includes an early version of 'Atlantis' called 'Circe' and an early version of Tony's great tune 'Mutants On The Beach' (from Civilization). Bertrand.
  7. I had no idea the New York Jazz Quartet had dedicated an album to the French president. Bertrand.
  8. Decided to go check out Butch tonight at Columbia Station before he leaves for France. Once the French woo him, he may never come back. Bertrand.
  9. How much is shipping at J+R usually, say for 3 $6.99 OJCs? I can't figure it out from their site? Bertrand.
  10. 5:00 PM on 6/12? I may have to miss the neighborhood block party. Thanks for the tip about the Maison de la Radio gig - I'll try to see if I can get someone to go. Bertrand.
  11. I'm sorry I won't be there. Please report back! Bertrand.
  12. Is the current band calling themselves The Yardbirds any good, or are they a joke? They're playing around here in May. Bertrand.
  13. Don't tell Allen Lowe. Bertrand.
  14. 'Mocha Spice' and "East To Wes' are by Remler; what's the third? Probably from This Is Me, which I don't have. Bertrand.
  15. Not sure I can make it to the Birchmere on 5/12 - it's hard to get there on a week night (and I was already planning to go see Doug Carn the next night). But I'll play it by ear. How long will you be in the D.C. area? Bertrand.
  16. Well, it was a mob scene as expected, and those of us who went to the talk (well worth it, of course) got stuck all the way at the top. But the music was fabulous. There were no announcements, but it looked like the new composition entitled 'Lotus' was the entire first hour of the set (which was a little under two hours). It's probably in several movements. Wayne kept turning the pages... Unclear if we will ever be able to purchase this piece. The issue of why Wayne hasn't made an album in five years came up at the talk. I got a sense from his answer that he is fed up with the record biz. My alternative entertainment option for the evening was to attend a happy hour for a departing co-worker who I could not stand (and who can't hold his booze, but that's another story). Talk about a no-brainer. Bertrand.
  17. There's more than one person still around who was involved, but since no one seems to know where the tapes are... Bertrand.
  18. Say hi to Lou from the whole gang at the organissimo forum.
  19. Damn, that Andrew Hill gig will be great, I bet. Ron is a fabulous trumpet player. Bertrand.
  20. Welcome back! Bertrand.
  21. I hope to get to the museum around noon from D.C. and kind of stake out a seat at some point. It looks like it may be chaotic. I plan to go to the discussion as well. Bertrand.
  22. I made a few inquries over the years but at this point I gave up. They're gathering dust somewhere instead of being digitized and preserved and stored in an archive where they belong for researchers to listen to. Bertrand.
  23. They haven't been at Morgan State for years. Bertrand.
  24. The only guy I ever talked to affiliated with LBJS was very much intent on selling these tapes. He wouldn't even tell me who or what was on them without some financial commitment. Bertrand.
