  1. I tried it, but all I saw was "Hook 'em Horns!"
  2. NO, NO, NO!!!
  3. Nahh, yer cool! I's just givin' ya some good-natured grief!
  4. Thank you! What does "excentic" mean? It means "excentric" .... I had a few LPs with holes slightly off center, and Rhodes was always the first instrument from which I noticed! Ah! Well, yes it was dubbed from an LP, but last time I checked, the only thing off-center was me! I think the reverb is going something fierce on the elec piano!
  5. Looks like a Before/After shot of Conn's eyes after a night of Live Chat
  6. I love LMTYABI, and really wish I could hear Rollin' with Leo. Maybe I'll be as fortunate as durium and find a used LP of it sometime!
  7. Don't worry, I am NOT posting naked.
  8. Nope, you were correct with your link. Here's another one I'm surprised no one's gotten. Then OTOH people are nailing Fred Wesley left and right! This was supposed to be the trick track, folks! You're not supposed to be getting this one right! Sheesh!!! Thank you! What does "excentic" mean? All will be revealed in due course. Actually I think I mentioned this track earlier in the thread, but I'm too tired/lazy to dig it out! Danke, mein freund!
  9. You got THAT right!!! Now come on: name that tune!!! Seriously, though, I'm not too big a fan of this set, but this one track makes the whole set worthwhile Chet yes; Riverside no. A very beautiful album indeed, but this is the only track that is even remotely bossa nova. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Nothin' to know. This is my favorite of those albums.
  10. Wow! I'd like to hear your definition of "modern" sometime! Glenn Miller on up Or Glenn Miller on crack. STFU FFA!!!!
  11. BINGO!!! If that's all you got out of it, then this BFT was a success!
  12. Abso-freakin-lutely!!! I wanted to include something from Wes's Tequila simpy because of Grady Tate, but I thought this would be a little more difficult to pin, but no less enjoyable! Somewhere in this thread, I mentioned that this is the only track Phil Woods is on. I'm wrong; he's all over this album. It's the vibist whose only apperance on the whole album is this track. Why yes, that would be Mr. Carter! You linked the correct album! I think I'll send this thread to Cuscuna, see if this will convince him of the demand for such a Select! I guess Hawk fools no one either! "They?" (evil snicker) No, just wanted to end on a somewhat mellow note! But I'm also curious about the fade-out. As I said before (I think), sounds like the tape was running and the trio just started futzing.
  13. Thank you! Show off! I can't believe no one's gotten this one yet! I thought this would've been one of the easier ones. Can't go wrong with Rabbit! I expect everyone to go out and get this album once the answers are released! It really is THAT GOOD, and I suspect not too many folks have heard it, given how many folks haven't been able to identify it! Another vote for Basie. Wow! I don't hear it! Thank you! Did I ever properly thank you for trying to inject some life into the discussion of this album when I made it an AotW last century? "Trapped." {sound of rimshot is heard in the background} Once again, nobody is fooled by the great Golson. Well, I might've been if this wasn't my BFT! Oh well, at least I succeeded in trying to stick my favorite drummer on my BFT in a non-typical sideman role and sneak it by some folks! I guess I have talked about it a little bit lately!
  14. You are correct in guessing the pianist! The only part you got correct was Junior Cook. You were talking about Junior, right? What??!?!?!?!?!?!!?? Didn't you read what Jim said earlier? Jo Jones, man! JO JONES, y'all!! Glad I'm not the only one who heard a serious Freddie Green influence on the guitarist! By chance, yes! You assume correctly!
  15. Boy am I behind!!! Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I've received a few PMs from people who have read the comments here and on the disc 2 discussion thread, saying they wished they'd joined up. I want to thank you guys for responding so positively! Hopefully, we'll have re-awakened the BFT monster with the discussions here! Man, this track is foolin' folks better than I thought it would. And to think I just put it on here as a tribute to the drummer! Completely agree about the use of the bari sax here! Basie..... would never have guessed that. IMO, this is even better than Basie's band at this time. You're in good company! Quite a few folks have been enjoying this one! Like I said earlier, Griff fools no one! I guess Golson fools no one as well! Yup, and you better hurry before they're gone! Hoepfully, your order contains the album from which this tune is taken. Great guesses so far!
  16. Wow! I'd like to hear your definition of "modern" sometime! Glenn Miller on up MG There you go!
  17. What he said!
  18. Listening to the Ghostbusters soundtrack, wondering what the hell was I thinking when I was 14......
  19. I'm a month away from my 38th birthday, and I still have to think about which way is left and which way is right. I have been directionally challenged since birth. During driver's ed, practicing in a parking lot, the teacher told me to turn left, so I turned right. This is not a political statement, BTW; don't ever ask me for directions, especially if we're driving, because the conversation will go like this: "Which way do I turn here?" "Um, left. No, I mean right. Right! RIGHT!" "Right here?" "Yes." (seconds after turning right) "Drat, did I say right? I meant left."
  20. Sweet!!! I was hoping you would dig them! And yes, between your BFT 18 and Sangrey's BFT 4, that was where I drew most of my inspiration! Can't wait to hear yours and Bassman's responses!
  21. Thanks for all the replies. I think I have to agree with Rooster that the box, which includes some things the individual CDs don't have, would be the better buy.
  22. That's what holds my main interest. Is the box worth it for those tracks?
  23. I recently heard the compilation "Best of Miles Davis & Gil Evans," and enjoyed it a lot. Since only four albums came from that, that would seem to be the better deal. However, is there anything on the box not on the individual CDs that would make the box the better deal?
