I guess, to put it nicely, if you liked DRIVING RAIN, you'll like this, as it appears to be more of the same.
Except for the title track, I didn't like DRIVING RAIN.
Believe it or not, I found this used for $7.98 a few years back. Couldn't believe my eyes! Bought it with the intention of eBaying that sucker. Then I actually enjoyed it. For a couple years anyway. Ended up eBaying it anyway. I think I got close to $30 for it.
Billy Bauer - PLECTRIST
Illinois Jacquet - THE KID AND THE BRUTE (cdr)
Meade Lux Lewis - CAT HOUSE PIANO (cdr)
Paul Quinichette - THE VICE PRES
Harry Edison - THE SWINGER/MR. SWING (found this one for $10 used! WOW!)
Lee Konitz - MOTION (found this one used; has anyone ever listened to those other 2 discs?)
Feel like I'm leaving out one or two.
They also have the same item at two different prices. Take Wayne Shorter's SPEAK NO EVIL:
This one costs 5.86USD. The UPC number is 724349900127, and shows a release date of 5/19/99.
This one costs 6.93USD. The UPC number is 0724349900127, and shows a release date of 3/5/99.
WTF?????
I was hoping that CHAOS would be the beginning of a new mature era for McCartney. After listening to the sound clips, it sounds like CHAOS was a fluke. A grand fluke, but a fluke nonetheless.
do many posts in that thread (on the second, third page if you have as many posts per page as i have) look like, uh, salad (wrong alignment of icons and text, like an html mistake) on anyone else's browser, too?
They opened up just fine for me.
Ahhhh, quit yer whining. At least you're closer to .500 than my stink-hole of a team. You guys are even closer to .500 than my sentimental faves, the Cubs.
I bet Tom Hicks is looking for a way to take Benitez off your hands. And before anyone says, "Only a fool would do such a thing," remember who we're talking about here.
That's right: you read it here first.
What magic number is that? They are eight games back of first, 5 back of the wild card. Their elimination number is 104 in the wild card, 103 in the division according to MLB.
<Edited cuz J.H. Deeley beat me to it>
I could insert a Rangers joke here, but that would be too easy.
And signing Mark Redman - is that rubbing salt in the wound or what?
Who says John hart still isn't making the decisions around here?
Just when I think the season can't get any worse............
Yeah, but who was it who had his signature reproduced on every album sleeve?
MG
Sure, I won't argue that; but a simple signature is still a far cry from "I am unshakeably and unreasonably proud of my work," which you'll find in every Keepnews collection disc.
I should've mentioned this earlier when answering about Creed Taylor: when Legacy did the reissues of CTIs back in the late 90's/early 00's, at least the focus was mainly on the artist. Sure there was the obligatory blurb about Creed and his accomplishments/influence, but there was nothing on the level of the Keepnews collection (self-congratulatory liner notes (two sets of 'em); pictures of Creed; Creed Taylor's name highlighted on the side of the jewel box).
Every time I hear about Creed's ego, I remember something I read where his ego was battling Freddie Hubbard's ego in contract negotiations in the mid-70's. I guess it takes a pretty big ego to keep the playing field level.
In the grand scheme of things, yeah Creed has/had an ego; but it's planets away from Orrin's; which is why my respect for Orrin sinks lower every time I see his name slapped on a reissue of some sort.
