  1. They also have the same item at two different prices. Take Wayne Shorter's SPEAK NO EVIL: This one costs 5.86USD. The UPC number is 724349900127, and shows a release date of 5/19/99. This one costs 6.93USD. The UPC number is 0724349900127, and shows a release date of 3/5/99. WTF?????
  2. I was hoping that CHAOS would be the beginning of a new mature era for McCartney. After listening to the sound clips, it sounds like CHAOS was a fluke. A grand fluke, but a fluke nonetheless.
  3. Somebody grab that Rollins K2, it is all kinds of sweet, and (from what I understand) much preferable to the current RVG.
  4. The two tracks from Grant Green's RETROSPECTIVE that feature Horace Parlan at the piano, in contemplation of purchasing the Parlan Mosaic.
  5. do many posts in that thread (on the second, third page if you have as many posts per page as i have) look like, uh, salad (wrong alignment of icons and text, like an html mistake) on anyone else's browser, too? They opened up just fine for me.
  6. I wonder if I can get Son-of-a-Weizen to send me a third copy of this CD?
  7. There was a great discussion about this album here. Hard to believe that thread is almost four years old!
  8. Ahhhh, quit yer whining. At least you're closer to .500 than my stink-hole of a team. You guys are even closer to .500 than my sentimental faves, the Cubs. I bet Tom Hicks is looking for a way to take Benitez off your hands. And before anyone says, "Only a fool would do such a thing," remember who we're talking about here. That's right: you read it here first.
  9. What magic number is that? They are eight games back of first, 5 back of the wild card. Their elimination number is 104 in the wild card, 103 in the division according to MLB. <Edited cuz J.H. Deeley beat me to it> I could insert a Rangers joke here, but that would be too easy.
  10. Kenny Burrell BLUE LIGHTS, VOLUMES 1 & 2
  11. And signing Mark Redman - is that rubbing salt in the wound or what? Who says John hart still isn't making the decisions around here? Just when I think the season can't get any worse............
  12. Strange that there are only 6 tracks listed.
  13. Yeah, but who was it who had his signature reproduced on every album sleeve? MG Sure, I won't argue that; but a simple signature is still a far cry from "I am unshakeably and unreasonably proud of my work," which you'll find in every Keepnews collection disc.
  14. I should've mentioned this earlier when answering about Creed Taylor: when Legacy did the reissues of CTIs back in the late 90's/early 00's, at least the focus was mainly on the artist. Sure there was the obligatory blurb about Creed and his accomplishments/influence, but there was nothing on the level of the Keepnews collection (self-congratulatory liner notes (two sets of 'em); pictures of Creed; Creed Taylor's name highlighted on the side of the jewel box). Every time I hear about Creed's ego, I remember something I read where his ego was battling Freddie Hubbard's ego in contract negotiations in the mid-70's. I guess it takes a pretty big ego to keep the playing field level. In the grand scheme of things, yeah Creed has/had an ego; but it's planets away from Orrin's; which is why my respect for Orrin sinks lower every time I see his name slapped on a reissue of some sort.
  15. Creed Taylor, too? That's always been my impression. Have I done him an injustice? MG Nope. It's been my impression as well.
  16. The Rangers are now officially the worst team in baseball. Like my son said: hey, at least they accomplished SOMETHING.
  17. "Foresight and Afterthought" is un-frickin-real. In a good way, of course! DeJohnette is killin'!
  18. Oddly enough, my son and I watched one of those episodes in which the Dirty Bubble appeared (the conch shell episode, I believe). And that Match Game DVD is worth every penny!
  19. I picked up POWER TO THE PEOPLE tonight, and am enjoying it so far (but then I'm still on the first track). With regard to the picture in the tray: easily fixed by replacing the clear tray with a standard black tray. I just wish I could highlight the words JOE HENDERSON instead of KEEPNEWS COLLECTION, on the side of the tray/jewel case. Henderson's name is in brown, which camouflages real well against the black background. Opened the booklet, and the first two pages are an intro to the series by OK himself. Skip. Next is the original liner notes. Read. Then a section entitled "Power to the People revisited." By OK. Skip. Bottom line: glad to have this reissue out, as it's my first exposure to this disc, I love the lineup, it sounds great (so far). But you'd never know this was a JOE HENDERSON disc. In other words, the high esteem in which I used to hold Orrin Keepnews dwindles faster every day as a result of things like this. You've been around a long time; we get it already. Sheesh!
  20. So that's where Harry's glasses went. Holy cow!
  21. Is Ron Carter's cello playing torture, or just a "coercive interrogation technique"? Guy All of the above? It sounds like one of those cheap-o synths you could get at KMart, that had the chord buttons on the left that, when you pressed them, sounded like a chorus of car horns. But other than that, as Felser said earlier, this album is NOT to be missed. According to CDUniverse, it's available on the Mosaic Contemporary label. (Could someone please change that link so that Organissimo gets the credit? I don't know how to do it! Thanks!)
  22. Even if all he did was MATCH GAME, that would be enough to make him a comedy legend in my mind. He was on the same level as Paul Lynde, IMO: the kind of performer who could leave you in stitches by merely reading the phonebook. Or the way he would give that mischievious (sp?) grin to the camera. Or his interaction with Brett Somers. I've yet to see his one-man show, SAVE IT FOR THE STAGE. Has anyone here seen it? Enough of my babbling. From CNN:
  23. What he said, word for word!
  24. The FireJoeMorgan.com website had a blog entry about this headline: Yankees' Wang Hit Hard By Rangers I know I've got a head cold & not thinking straight, but does that really say RANGERS? Other than the occasional outburst, I don't think they've hit anyone hard this year. Certainly not anyone on the Yankees!
