FWIW, I scanned through this article, and share many of the same sentiments as Moose. It's like this guy's M.O. was "I bet I can out-snob those blasted atheists." But also bear in mind that, at this same website, you can find an ad (disguised as an article) for a new WorldNetDaily Books titled "Triangle of Death," wherein it is uncovered that a known terrorist was smuggled out of the US....right after JFK was killed. Uh huh... I'm sure this wouldn't be considered "irrational." You can also buy books by Michael Savage from this site. Assuming you'd want to..... Edit: Took out the part about Alex's avatar. I forgot it keeps switching back & forth like that.

After looking at it for so long, I finally broke down and got the Quinichette VICE-PRES as well a few weeks ago, and I'm glad I did because I keep coming back to it on a regular basis. Nothing earth-shattering, just chock full of lively swinging and hearty playing all around. Plus, it's got wall-to-wall Freddie Green, and that's ALWAYS a good thing!

He's "the Kid in Black!" My son is having a "sleepover" right now with his best friend. I may be here awhile...... B) I should also mention that I have a daughter, who's actually my step-daughter. I love her with all my heart, as if she were my blood daughter. Not a moment has gone by that I didn't wish she was. I've known her since she was three, and married her mother when she was six. I didn't mention this in my first post because I really feel like I missed something in her first three years. There have been times I've told her I wished I'd known her mom back when our daughter was born; how I wish I could've held her when she was a baby; helped with the diaper-changing and all that. I've known her most of her life, and we share a close relationship that some blood father-daughters don't even share. Needless to say, I consider myself doubly lucky for having married her mother, and gotten the opportunity to help raise this beautiful young lady. But I will always feel like I've missed a huge chunk of her life. So, in all honesty, I can't really talk about "life before kids," because when my wife and I said "I do," it was instant fatherhood for me, and I've been loving every minute of it.......even the difficult moments (as any parent of a teenager will tell you). And that's the other reason I didn't bring this up in my first post: she is a teenager after all, convinced that someone somewhere is watching her every move so that it can be reported at school the very next day. I can just see it now: FRIEND: "Your dad said some very nice things about you." MY DAUGHTER: [[[[[[sIGH]]]]]]]

Man, I'm gonna be afraid to open the toilet for a while. In fact, I may not even let my kids open theirs without my supervision: "But daaaaaaaaad, I gotto goooooooo!" "Hang on son, I'm almost done posting! Then I gotta find the key to unlock the padlock on the toilet......" Hey, a dad can't be too careful! -
Are there any Prestige sessions that he feels are overlooked because they weren't on a label like Blue Note or Riverside, but that they are on the same level of playing as a BLUE TRAIN (just to give one example; is there one or two albums of his that he feels have that special something that pushed it into the upper realms of greatness?) or a BRILLIANT CORNERS? Does he feel that, when critics refer to "standard blowing sessions," they're referring to Prestige in a derogatory manner? On a note related to the first question: how would he counter the claim that Coltrane did nice work at Prestige, but that it wasn't essential when compared to BLUE TRAIN, his Atlantic work, and his Impulse work? (For the record, I don't buy this notion for a second; but I have seen it expressed elsewhere).

It's discussed in his autobiography, To Be or Not to Bop. -

Just as I thought (guess this thing's pretty accurate after all): 1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%) 2. Bahá'í Faith (90%) 3. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (85%) 4. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (81%) 5. Sikhism (76%) Not sure about #4, and #5 proves what I've always thought: that I'm a Grade-A sikh-o! And FWIW, UU placed #15 on my list! -
No, but I understand he helped popularize the process known as Stierlization!

I hope it’s not too late to suggest a radical re-working of the proposed Organissimo fund-raising CD, but how about making a Christmas/holiday CD? And to take it a step further, combine the heads of some of the great greasy tunes to lead into the Christmas/holiday tune. The idea for this came from listening to my favorite Christmas CD: The Ventures Christmas Album. For those who’ve never heard it, the Ventures took eleven Christmas carols/songs, and used popular songs of the mid-60’s as intros into the tunes. So, as an example, the Beatles “I Feel Fine” led into “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer;” the tune “When You Walk in the Room” morphs into “Blue Christmas.” Stuff like that. I’d be glad to send a CDR of it up to you guys to give you an idea of what I’m talking about (I don’t know if it’s in print or not; if it is, it’s worth getting because it’s so much FUN!) Just an idea that I figured you guys'd be able to pull off!

Michael Jackson arrest warrant

I doubt it. There's no such thing as bad publicity, and in MJ's case, bad publicity is not only the ONLY kind he can get, it's the BEST kind. There was a caller on one of the talking-head shows tonight who claimed to be the mother of a child in the entertainment industry. According to her, the kinds of parents who let their kids hang around with MJ are the "stage parent" types; the ones trying live vicariously through their children by pushing them through the meat-grinder that is the entertainment industry. And these same people think it's SOMETHING SPECIAL to be able to say their kid knows Michael Jackson and hangs out (no jokes, please) with him. How scary is that?!?!? -
I have been thoroughly enjoying DrJ’s baby pictures. This evening, at home, I found a picture of my son from when he was just a few months old, and I got to thinking: I can’t really comprehend what life was like before he was born. It feels like he’s always been with us, despite the fact that he’s only 7. As an extension, my wife and I will have been married 10 years in January, and I cannot even BEGIN to comprehend what life was like before she entered my life. Nor do I want to. So I was wondering if DrJ, and other dads at this Bored (new and vets) ever have this feeling?
