  1. What Christiern said.
  2. There's more "Oh Yeah" on Tonight at Noon. Oh yeah! I should've been more specific and mentioned that I was listening to the Rhino CD of the album (thanks to a fruitful stop at the Arlington Half-Price Books where someone had unloaded all three of Mingus' Atlantic Rhino CDs), the one that has all six tracks from that session. Oh Yeah indeed!
  3. Holy crap!!! I still haven't posted my answers! Sorry Nate! Been so freakin' busy I forgot to post!
  4. Any thoughts on one I saw yesterday: THE NEW JOHNNY SMITH QUARTET The track order suggests that it's a rip from the Smith Mosaic. Any thoughts before I plunk down the cash for this?
  5. The Dirty Mac (John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards (bass), Mitch Mitchell) playing "Yer Blues" on The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus, and just wondering what might've been. These guys more than clicked. Also, Charles Mingus entire OH YEAH album just because it made me say "OH YEAH!!!"
  6. Yeah, and the Hipnosis tracks were worth the price of admission alone.
  7. Too late, all gone. Shows you how much I pay attention around here....
  8. Send it back and get the Moncur Select instead, while you can?
  9. Reread my first post on the subject. This disc now has the alternate as track 5. On the old disc it was track 2. The thing that they did the same was tack on the ending of the alternate of "Saturday and Sunday", to the beginning of track 2. This translates as follows: The old disc had the ending of the alternate of Saturday and Sunday tacked to the front of the alternate of Saturday and Sunday. The new RVG has the same ending of the alternate of Saturday and Sunday again tacked to the beginning of track 2, which NOW is Frankenstein. I don't know if this means that all they are doing is tweaking old copies, but there is definitely some sort of disconnect happening at Blue Note. I knew what you meant, though I don't believe I communicated it properly. It still bugs me that Blue Note let this come out like that. I bet Swinging Swede is right on the mark in his assessment.
  10. Wait a second.... you mean Blue Note made the IDENTICAL error as on the earlier CD, but moved it to the end of the disc? If so, then so much for this notion that RVG went back to the original tapes. It sounds like all he did was tweak the old CC disc. Wow. If this is true, what a rip.
  11. Skip church some Sunday, stay at home, start early, and listen to the various remotes broadcast on KKDA-AM (730 AM, Soul 73). Some come close. There used to be this preacher on 89.3 that I'd listen to on the way to church, some ten years ago. I wish I could remember who that was (he sounded like B.B. King's twin brother); I think his church was in South Dallas somewhere, but I never made the time/had the guts to go check it out in person.
  12. The Texas Rangers???? I could understand how playing for the Rangers would drive you to drink, but not take steroids.
  13. Damn!!!!
  14. For morning devotions today I put in Mingus's OH YEAH. Normally I don't listen to any music during my quiet time with the Lord, but today I wanted some background music. Man, talk about adding music to worship! I wish my church played music like this during worship, it'd keep me awake from start to finish!
  15. Apologies for not posting yet. I have listened to it, but need to listen again when I'm not in a sour mood. There were some really nice tracks, but a lot of tracks simply weren't my cuppa tea, and the big long 37-hour track at the end.... well, I listened to the first couple of seconds, then moved the time-bar to about the halfway point and I thought my speakers would explode. I know people enjoy that cacophony, but it makes my cranium hurt!
  16. Very sorry to hear that, Bill. I hope your situation gets better. So noted on the Master List.
  17. Does this allow you to save the music file as a WAV file? If so, then I'm sold on it.
  18. You run a book store, stocked with loads of books running the gamut of genres and subjects, yet you claim to be fresh out anytime someone wants to buy one!
  19. Nobody sent me a PM. I'm directly AND indirectly insulted!!!
  20. The Verve 2-fer of Wes Montgomery called Impressions: The Verve Jazz Sides completely neglects Wes's jazziest album that isn't the Half Note album: Tequila.
  21. And a bit suspect, I think. Time for a cartoon!
  22. Oops! And all these years I thought I caught US premiere.
  23. Cheese? He's a greedy man!
  24. Same here. I used to watch Benny Hill on Sunday nights on KERA (this would've been 1980 or 81) and they started following that with this weird show called "Monty Python's Flying Circus," which I'd never heard of in the ten years I'd been alive. It was the episode that contained the "How to Defend Yourself from Fresh Fruit" sketch. When that 16-ton weight fell, I thought I was gonna pass out I was laughing so hard! "Well, I'm not sleeping with THAT producer again!"
